!ottawabronies you drive a hard bargain. I'd be willing to try out some pony patches.

Semi-crazy question from an outright crazy brony; Any of you fine people know how to work with 3d modeling software (3dsmax/Maya/Blender)? Myself and iamderpy may have an idea that would be fun for all of us in the !ottawabronies group.
Monday, 07-Nov-11 03:12:31 UTC from web-
@syntaxcapt !ottawabronies I have some rudimentary experience with 3DS Max, its not much, but as long as it wasn't something too complex I might be able to help :)

!ottawabronies @mergemm I thought it had a good, neutral stance, which is rare for articles featuring bronies. Usually they are swayed too far by either side. As for the haters in the comments, well, to me the hate is often quite hilarious. Most haters seem to have no idea what they are talking about; I often listen to the critics because I like to have an understanding of both sides, despite my own opinion. Yet, with MLP haters, I have yet to hear a legitimate reason for disliking it so much. Oh well.

@cakewalk !ottawabronies Welp, haters gonna hate. But really what were we expecting from something like this?
Saturday, 05-Nov-11 15:02:29 UTC from web -
@mergemm The story I felt, was well done with no negative labels slapped on along side the title "bronies". I do find, however, the comments section of this article seems to be going overboard. !ottawabronies
Saturday, 05-Nov-11 01:57:55 UTC from web-
@syntaxcapt The comments section of any article is a wretched hive of Parasprites and Manticores. On any newspaper site. There are people paid big bucks to say or do stupid things on all of them. Plus, 4chan trolls.
-
!ottawabronies @mergemm I agree with @syntaxcapt , the article was well written and seemed to be genuinely researched (kinda funny to see Rainbow Dash on the cover of the WSJ), though the comments section does seem to be rather full of hate at points...
-
@mergemm !ottawabronies I always tend to bristle a little at the 'tell their own stories'. Fanfic still gets a sidelong glance from a lot of quarters, but you can't tell me after reading stuff like Jetfire's "It's A Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door" that it's a silly thing to be doing with one's fandom.

Story about bronies on the front page of the Wall Street Journal today http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203707504577012141105109140.html What do you guys think? !ottawabronies

!Ottawabronies so whats the panel at naru2u going to entale? It's kind of peaked my interest.

!Ottawabronies Happy belated Nightmare Night from me as well! I was sporting Pinkie Pie's gala dress (home-made) this year. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone got it. Hope you all had a good night!
Wednesday, 02-Nov-11 01:01:35 UTC from web-
@memj !ottawabronies Sounds awesome! :D All I would've had time to make this year was a Derpy Halloween costume (aka, paper bags). I doubt anyone would have gotten that either. xD

@djmidli oh nice! Would have definitely liked to have seen that. Well done good sir. !ottawabronies

!ottawabronies @mergemm Hurrah. Whichever you prefer. I am rather apathetic towards conversation medium.

!ottawabronies @cakewalk That would be great! Sent you a reply. @frolicintheashes Thanks :) No reason why we can’t chat here or at the convention. I’m just choosing to focus on older bronies as far as sources go. @djmidli sounds good :)

@nightbreak Interesting! From what I gather the majority of bronies are only fans of Friendship is Magic and have either no knowledge of or interest in previous iterations. Can you tell me in what ways this latest MLP cartoon differs from the previous ones? !ottawabronies
Sunday, 30-Oct-11 16:14:06 UTC from web-
@mergemm !ottawabronies I currently go to Carleton, so I can meet up with you sometime there if you'd like. I'll send you an email :)
-
@mergemm The new one focuses a lot more on the fact that they are ponies and has completley taken out all humans or aspects of them. They are also while still kind of girly independent and not like the classic barbie appearance/lifestyle(except rarity in a sense). FiM also manages to wiggle in the moral of each episode in without it being forced down your throat and still manages to have some fun that while kids won't get it the older generation will be giggling and trying to hold back from bursting into fits of laughter(guilty of it with the huff the magic dragon reference)

!ottawabronies @mergemm I would be quite willing, but you did specify 18+, so I can't. But still.

!ottawabronies @nightbreak @djmidli I'm focusing on why the cartoon has become this popular with a demographic so different from the target audience -- popular enough to spawn this brony subculture. Ideally real names would be used, but if there’s concern with that I’m willing to work around it. I do want to make it clear that I’m not out to portray bronies in a negative way. The premise just struck me as curious and I’m sure others would find it intriguing as well. I did commit myself to watching the entire first season when I decided to write this article; I think it’s a cute show with great production, characters and an interesting world. So the appeal is not lost on me :)

@mergemm sounds like a great idea. I'd love to help out if you still need people.
-
@mergemm Well, I can tell you that I came into the new show because I had been a fan of the 80s show when I was, oh, 8. :P I'm sort of a brony-anomaly in that, but it's interesting to be in a fandom from the ground up like this. Trust me, bronies are not alone. Just go to Fandom bananas and see the 'subcultures' that have evolved around any show. !ottawabronies.

!ottawabronies Hi all. I’m a journalism student at Carleton University working on an article about bronies for a magazine writing course I’m taking this semester. I plan to pitch the story to an actual publication once I’m a bit further along with my research. I’m looking for Ottawa-area bronies (ages 18 and up) to be a part of the article. I’ll be at the convention in November, but I’m interested in chatting and/or meeting with any who are up for it before then. If you’d like to be involved, please email me at mmonett2 [at] connect.carleton.ca. Thanks!

@mergemm What will you be talking about and what names will you be using: Net or Real? Plus, are you a fan yourself? !ottawabronies.

Sorry, fellow !ottawabronies, but it's unlikely I can take the time to zip down to Chicago any time soon and I'd like to gather up some of these pucks from other teams. It's all for a good cause. :P

!chibronies : !Ottawabronies member here, looking for a Blackhawks fan who'll be going to the United Centre for the game against Columbus on Saturday (or even games after, perhaps). Oct. 29th is your Hockey Fights Cancer Night and there are autographed Blackhawks "Mystery Pucks" for sale. I'm looking to acquire one and will reimburse you for the expenses, shipping, and extra effort. Ottawa Senators still have about fifty remaining from our HFC Night last Tuesday, so I hope the Hawks won't sell out quickly. Can anyone help?

!ottawabronies: Sign you watch too much MLP:FiM: When your mother comments on how clear a day it is, and your immediate first thought is that the weather ponies are doing a marvelous job today!

!ottawabronies @nightbreak Hehe, the thought of weather ponies above clearing the sky always gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. :)

!ottawabronies @memj It was in the MC building actually! The hallway connecting MC to Mackenzie... I forget what floor though. And we don't mind at all! Please join in :D

!ottawabronies @nightbreak THIS MUCH VOLUME WHEN ADDRESSING OUR SUBJECTS!

!ottawabronies @cakewalk. Wish I'd seen that! I'm assuming it was in the MC building? Oh and hi fellow bronies! Hope you don't mind if I join in?

!ottawabronies Was walking in Carleton Uni. when I saw this on one of the engineering billboards. http://i.imgur.com/Pcvlh.jpg Made me giggle quite a bit, first brony reference I've seen while at uni. If I had flash skills I'd totally help out. Its a bit blurry cause I used my cellphone to photo it.

!ottawabronies I should try and bake/cook/stuff like that for the group watch. The only real objection I can think of to Jonnies is that it is a very mediocre restaurant. But it is still food.
Sunday, 16-Oct-11 01:41:58 UTC from web -
!ottawabronies A groupwatch would be fantastic! I could bring snacks too, like cupcakes or somesuch for all of us to have something to munch while we watch.
Saturday, 15-Oct-11 04:50:39 UTC from web -
!ottawabronies I am excite. I think I'll cosplay as urahara since he's kinda the only character I sorta resemble (that I watch) at naru2u. Also, why don't we watch episode 4 together as our next meeting? If people can bear to get up, we could watch it in a stream on the day of its release!
Friday, 14-Oct-11 23:58:23 UTC from web -
!ottawabronies @djmidli Excellent :) Also wanted to remind everypony that episode 3 is tomorrow! :D
Friday, 14-Oct-11 23:46:30 UTC from web-
@djmidli Shame. Although a 'history lesson' on Dream Valley, "Where Everything Wants To Kill You" to Equestria would be fun.
-
@djmidli is there gonna be a meet up outside of naru. I am not going this year but still wanna meet other ottawa bronies
-
@djmidli Thanks! But I'm not top-tier. I'm slightly under that. I didn't let the fic sit long enough after finishing and took some bad advice on that ending. That idea cost me a star rating. Plus some readers felt nothing happened. They were right. But I can fix all that if I ever get around to "Knots In the Wings" :D I'm no Jetfire or WTF_HIW. They're the top-tier. I don't write like they do.
