reading for the 10th time: Arbetssamhället (the work society) by Paulsen ( discussed with @hannes2peer ) #reading
- hannes2peer and mmn repeated this.
-
@simsa01 it will get replaced when i find time and energy to add the other faq
- takeshitakenji repeated this.
-
@simsa01 progress is bourgeois
-
@benfell you are thinking of gelatin used to "clear" beer and wine. made from skin and bones. but i'm not sure about kidneys.
-
sorry for the downtime on .se! disk was full...
- takeshitakenji and mcscx repeated this.
-
@bob i think you read organizing too literal here. i was referring to a pretty vague concept of how to think about quitter/gnusocial
-
@bob because yes, gnusocial sucks at organizing at the moment. the idea with qvitter is to make it easy to quit the sucky platforms, by >
-
@bob > also being pretty aweful. when/if lots of people quit, hopefully the network will turn into someting more useful. which is likely >
-
@bob > because federation and free software makes the power structures radically more democratic than a corporation.
-
-
@vinzv haha please start a !sic-group!
-
@vinzv to be fair @simsa0 never liked the TOU (added 2 months after the FAQ). i understand the criticism, but i have different opinion.
-
@vinzv i think it has to do with what you think gnusocial _is_. is it a way of coding utopia? or is it more like organizing a struggle?
-
@vinzv i want it to be a little of both, which complicates things...
-
@hannes2peer @vinzv I'm not sure that !gnusocial would be the best system for organising. For that Hubzilla might be better because it has calendar/events plus privacy groups and additional encryption.
-
-
@simsa0 even if you have the right to remove it (i doubt it), i don't think that's fair on the other people who has contributed to it
-
@mcscx2 i agree, we need a better more up to date faq. but i'm worried people will get mad/sad if we suddenly remove it without replacement
-
@hannes2peer you could indeed use q.no's faq. I remember when @tom@s.karp.id.au announced working on it https://social.stormdragon.tk/conversation/96378#notice-100413
Here's the project site https://git.gnu.io/tom/social-doc
@simsa0 -
@mcscx2 it looks nice. i wish i had a higher work capacity now, so i could work on stuff like this.
-
-
gnusocial admins: don't let trump move your tolerance for frisbee seeking. nazis are still nazis – block, silence, delete.
- takeshitakenji and lnxw48 repeated this.
-
@hannes2peer IMO it doesn't matter what label someone wears if they are disrupting my community.
-
@hannes2peer Nazis play ultimate frisbee???
-
@hannes2peer qse's @simsa0 requested I send you this link: http://url.federati.net/CUjtO CC: @mcscx

Unternehmen gehen gegen Wortmarke "Black Friday" vor http://qttr.at/1kxk unrühmlicher Akt des Deutschen Patent- und Markenamts (DPMA)
-
@hannes2peer Well, it's not qvitter but quitter-se. Does that mean it's not your sector? Who else?
-
@hannes2peer In case that it helps to detect the cause: the "Black Friday" queet was such a double appearing.
-
@kuro it's my sector, but it's very difficult to trace the error. but thanks for telling me!

@takeappleakenji @takepapayaakenji json http://catacaos.hannesmannerhe.im/takekiwiakenji-20161126.json
-
@hannes2peer @takeappleakenji Thank you!
-
@hannes2peer I just grabbed it.
-
-
@fl0wn don't understand what you are talking about
-
@takekiwiakenji your quitter.se user's notices? paired with their url on quitter.se?
-
@takepapayaakenji plain text or html?
-
-
@takeappleakenji what is it?

@gargron @hannes2peer I don't know the context for this post, but the conversation ID is NOT necessarily the thread's first notice ID. (anymore, it was only for a short while because I thought I had a bright idea that didn't turn out well in the long run)
-
@mmn haha, the reason you don't know the context is the topic in question :)
-
@mmn context can be seen on .se https://quitter.se/notice/8275639
-
-
@gargron but maybe i misunderstood the question. and it's not my area of expertise...
-
@gargron no, i don't think so, because in theory your instance can receive a reply before the thread starting post
-
@gargron why don't you use it?
-
any idea why the conversation is lost here? https://quitter.se/notice/8275308 @gargron's notice that @mmn is replying to exists on .se
-
same on .no https://quitter.no/notice/2702526 and the original notice exist there too
-
-
the !qvitter bug that inserted double @@ on mastodon notices should be fixed now (on .se, after refresh, for new uncached notices)
-
- mcscx and takeshitakenji repeated this.
-
@hannes2peer wow :-(
-
Yeah things are a lot faster if I delete everything in localstorage, so if you have page responsiveness problems, please try that.
-
@maiyannah surprised to hear that. the actual localstorage operations are usually super fast. but preparing the data to store can be slow
-
@maiyannah so disabling localstorage should help on slow computers. about emptying.. i'm a little sceptical, but i don't rule it out..
-
@hannes2peer I am using an older version of chrome due to the Certificate Transparency problems in Chromium 53 which make half the internet unusable. This is probably a factor.
-
-
Yes, I've noticed the slowness. It's just qvitter being banana. Load isn't even pushing .5 and the disk utilization is at 12% of max, and mysql is fine.
-
@hannes2peer @mcscx This is something I might play with for optimization too, it is measured in MS iirc?
-
@maiyannah yep! ms
-
@hannes2peer Thanks for the tips, it is appreciated! In my case, it was definitely localstorage, but I will play a bit with the polling as well.
-
-
@maiya so the api returns this https://quitter.se/attachment/2605715
-
@maiya oh i didn't realize it was you :) checking
-
@maiya url?
-
@gargron it's an old ugly qvitter hack that converts gnusocial's ugly @-outside mentions. thanks for telling me, will fix
