@zimzap according to Lauren Faust, the only two Alicorns in the FIM-iverse are Luna and Celestia, and for special reasons. making an alicorn OC would be like making a dual-scimitar-wielding drow-turned-good in a D&D game. You could reason it, but you're stealing the thunder of a character who is supposed to be unique. Or in alicorns' case, there are only ever two. MY opinion on the subject is that there is absolutely no reason to NEED an alicorn as your OC, and the gesture of haviing one lords over and stands to purposefully outshine other OC's. As a D&D vet of 17-18 years, there is no good enough story explanation as to why you need an alicorn as your OC, regardless of the laws of the FIM-iverse. The only exception to this rule imo is if you made your own pony-verse for an rpg, or imo it's okay for mods on forums and sites represent their modhood with an alicorn avatar.
