  3. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual Whenever a Studio Ghibli film is released, my sister and I have a japan-o-thon all day. This is why I am nostalgic for Studio Ghibli films.

  12. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual They disabled the ECCS system, but by the time the human operators had finished dicking around with the reactor core manually, it wouldn't have especially helped. The primary safety system was actually operating as designed throughout the experiment, but because the human operators had opted for manual withdrawal of all but 12 of the reactor control rods, the computer wasn't able to keep control of the reaction temperature once the last one was in there.

  13. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual Actually, what they were /trying/ to do was test whether or not the residual momentum from the still spinning plant turbines would be sufficient to generate enough power to cover a the 45 second spin-up time the backup diesel generators required to keep the reactor coolant pumps running.

  16. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual that reminds me of when my brother went to Japan for a school trip, his host family took him to karaoke and he sang a duet of some anime theme, they were impressed he could do it apparently

  17. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual of course it was never gut bustingly hilarious or even something that would make you laugh out loud

  19. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual I thought I would never get sick of the meme, it was like literally the only one I could stand. I was wrong. But that picture is still adorable

  20. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual The thing about anime and I is that it's sort of a "ten-foot-pole" relationship in the sense that I'll occasionally sit down and watch some anime series or movie but I've never really been a serious anime fan. I'm not really into the "little girls blowing the murdock out of stuff and being badass" genre either, but I've yet to watch it so I'll withhold any further criticisms I may have.

  22. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual I like to keep an open mind but it's really a natural thing to do. I understand how expectations can sort of soil the experience but to me expectations are less about the quality of the movie and more about what I think I'm going to get out of it. Like, if I go to see a comedy movie I expect to watch jokes and gags I can laugh at, and if I go to see an action film I expect to be kept on the edge of my seat through fast sequences and pacing.

  24. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual what is "星" ? also, it is complicated, i though otogi and hanashi were separated words and i thought that'd mean "in company of a conversation" based on the meaning of otogi i found on jisho.org

  25. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual Well, I use enjoyable in the very broad sense of the term, as in something I can watch that I will subsequently hold in high regard. Also, I love Grave of the Fireflies, so I'll probably have high expectations going in.

  27. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual I'm looking into it right now. Seems pretty enjoyable actually. The only anime films I've seen are most of the ones by Studio Ghibli and Akira.

  30. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual I've seen the first 3 but not that last one. Casa Blanca is one of my dad's 2 favourite films of all time, the other one being The Wizard of Oz. Godfather and Shawshank are both musts for any movie fan.
