  1. Hey... I'm Fluttershy. I saw this site and made an account. I hope you don't mind...

    1. @mrbrown I think I've had my fill of depressing for a while. I'm only just stabilizing from the emotional turbulence of Fallout: Equestria's latest chapter @_@

            1. @ceruleanspark Littlepip got it the worst I think; with almost everything that happened being somehow her fault (from her own perspective at least)

              1. @tenmihara Finding out about Calamitys family was sad too though. He's been so strong!

                1. @ceruleanspark It's kind of interesting to consider that Red Eye is now, of all the evils plaguing the wasteland, the lesser. Well intentioned extremist using diplorable methods, but ultimately for a constructive purpose. Raiders and the Enclave? They've done nothing but destroy

                  1. @tenmihara Well, the Alicorns are still around.

                    1. @ceruleanspark Yeah, but with The Goddess gone, they're not so much of a threat as they could be. They'll probably be more confused and disoriented than anything else

                      1. @tenmihara Well what is Red Eye going to do now? Red Eye with fully loyal alicorns is probably just as bad.

                        1. @ceruleanspark Red Eye is probably my favourite villain in the story; simply because he has redeeming qualities that most Post-Apocalyptic horrors lack. He won't suffer the harming of children, or the destruction of what he's worked to accomplish. I imagine he'll be just as willing to stand against the Enclave as Littlepip. After that though, yeah, she'll probably have to put a stop to him too

                          1. @tenmihara I still remember the opening. "Why I'm going to do what I'm about to do". I wonder about that.

                            1. @ceruleanspark She hints at it at the top of Chapter 37 when talking about the 'final' memory orbs

                            2. @ceruleanspark I have a theory about what she's going to end up doing. I also have a couple ideas about the true symbolism of her cutie mark

Sunday, 11-Sep-11 20:54:28 UTC from web
                              1. @tenmihara I'd be interested to hear them.

Sunday, 11-Sep-11 20:58:33 UTC from web
                                1. @ceruleanspark Well, her cutie mark is definitely an interesting one, but being a 'Pipbuck Technician' obviously isn't the right answer =P In the prologue, she remarks how the Pipbuck has a bunch of amazing features that nopony uses, making it a lot more mundane. But if you invert that, you get something seemingly ordinary that can do extraordinary things; just like Littlepip ^^

Sunday, 11-Sep-11 21:00:23 UTC from web
                                  1. @tenmihara Well, for her to even have a pipbuck out in the wasteland is unusual in and of itself. I think you have a point and that it definitely has a deeper symbolism than "she's a vault dweller" though. I think the only person who thinks Littlepip is ordinary is Littlepip herself now though.

                                    1. @ceruleanspark Indeed; although Velvet did have a point in her anguished rantings. Despite her selflessness, Littlepip has done some unspeakably evil things. Perhaps one of the things I like most about this story is that (much unlike the Fallout 3 game), everything is painfully blurry when it comes to the line between good and evil. Kkat is brilliant

Monday, 12-Sep-11 06:25:35 UTC from web
                                      1. @tenmihara I'm pretty mad at Velvet actually. How dare she! Everything is HER fault. The whole story goes back to HER leaving. Not Littlepip following.

Monday, 12-Sep-11 06:29:27 UTC from web
                                        1. @ceruleanspark I can't be mad at Velvet right now; her heart was broken at the discovery of Fluttershy's greatest failure, and only made worse because she knew that Steelhooves and Littlepip both already knew and kept it from her. She's on the verge of giving up on everything she believed in u.u

Monday, 12-Sep-11 06:31:38 UTC from web
                                          1. @tenmihara After everything she's seen, I feel like Velvet was being INCREDIBLY naive to assume that Fluttershy had passed through the war without committing any sins at all.

                                            1. @ceruleanspark Naivety perhaps, but I think she was holding onto it much like Montery Jack held onto his 'Honesty' or Silver Bell to her 'Laughter'.

Monday, 12-Sep-11 06:42:35 UTC from web
                                              1. @tenmihara We'll see. She could implode, or she could come back stronger. I swear if her and Calamity don't get a happy ending I'm gonna murder somepony though.

                                                1. @ceruleanspark I'm gonna murder Kkat if the story doesn't have a happy ending. After all the tragedy they've been through and witnessed, Littlepip and co deserve a happy ending and then some

Monday, 12-Sep-11 06:54:37 UTC from web
                                                  1. @tenmihara Littlepip is going to die. It seems like a forgone conclusion at this point.

                                                    1. @ceruleanspark What makes you say that?

Monday, 12-Sep-11 06:56:37 UTC from web
                                                      1. @tenmihara With everything that has happened, in a very real way, the Littlepip that left the vault is dead. eventually, it's going to come down to a choice between Littlepip and some pony else (perhaps everypony else), and she's going to make that choice.

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:31:31 UTC from web
                                                        1. @ceruleanspark Cerulean, can you help me with something computer security related? After a recent event my uncle experienced in his neighborhood, I'm a bit scared; security wise.

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:33:29 UTC from web
                                                          1. @ladestitute Sure thing. What's up?

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:34:40 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                                            1. @ceruleanspark A recent event happened in my uncle's neighborhood and some guy hacked into the neighborhood and gained control of alot of computers in the area. I'm suddenly scared, now. All a hacker needs to do (provided that the computer has a password set at the login screen) to gain access is to crack the password. How difficult (I'm accounting programs as well) is a +12 character password (using special symbols, numbers, and both uppercase/lowercase characters) to crack? Any precautions I can take?

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:43:08 UTC from web
                                                              1. @ladestitute To determine the security of your password, you first must calculate your level of password entropy. In the case of a non-dictionary password using a set of all the available symbols, your password has an entropy value of 32.54. As a general rule, a password of N entropy can be cracked in 2 to the power of N attempts, which, for your password, equals 6235849138 tries. (source: http://www.redkestrel.co.uk/Articles/RandomPasswordStrength.html). However, this is not the only concern, if the hacker in question is compromising the machines en-masse, it's more likely that he's using a windows exploit than manually cracking every password. To alleviate the likelyhood of this taking place, ensure you've fully patched your copy of windows. Hopefully you're running with a firewall installed too. Have you also checked for possible viral backdoors?

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:57:46 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                                                1. @ceruleanspark I don't live in the same neighborhood where it occurred (it's near downtown btw, so it's more rural as well) but it's always good to have caution. I run a very well rounded security set, the basic windows firewall, avast (the free version), spybot, and malwarebyte's anti-malware and I also do scans every day from 6 PM-7 PM. And I'm not sure, when it comes to viral backdoors.

Monday, 12-Sep-11 08:13:41 UTC from web
                                                                  1. @ladestitute If MBAM hasn't picked anything up, it's pretty unlikely that there's anything there. It's exceptionally good. If you're still concerned, Nod32 and Kaspersky both offer fully functional trials you can use to scan and if necessary, remove any active infections you have at the moment. They offer (I believe, my data is a little old) the best detection rates on the market. If you have reason to believe you might be infected, it's also worth running a check for Rootkits. I don't know what version of windows you're running, but there's a range of tools available here: http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-rootkit-scanner-remover.htm I use F-secure's blacklight tool on XP, and Kaspersky's TDSS on 7. Both are free.

Monday, 12-Sep-11 08:21:00 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                                                    1. @ceruleanspark I use windows 7 and thanks, you've cleared my mind.

Monday, 12-Sep-11 08:24:05 UTC from web
                                                                      1. @ladestitute Unless you've had your system exhibit some behaviour that implies it might be compromised, if MBAM is coming up clean, it probably is.

Monday, 12-Sep-11 08:25:36 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                                        2. @ceruleanspark Ooh, good point about the 'Vault' Littlepip. I can definitely see that happening; especially since something similar happened at the end of Fo:3. However, I entertain another possibility (albeit a slim and incredibly far-fetched one)

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:34:25 UTC from web
                                                          1. @tenmihara Erm, 'Stable'. Vault is for humans, ponies have 'Stables' XD

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:35:36 UTC from web
                                                          2. @tenmihara It's like, everyone else has gotten the ending they explictly didn't deserve, so why would Littlepip be the exception? My personal theory is that perhaps she is going to plug herself into the SPP. That would deprive the enclave of their power base and bring sunlight back to the wasteland. That assumes that a certain blue pegasus hasn't ALREADY linked into it.

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:36:50 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                                            1. @ceruleanspark Oh yeah, the SPP did have a Crusader Matrix installed! I never even thought of that. Certainly a mind blowing possibility

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:37:57 UTC from web
                                                              1. @tenmihara It's not a stock crusader though. RD said she wanted it to have a living pony, rather than a copy of one. The implication, I thought was that whoever goes in doesn't come out until they're dead.

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:41:42 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                                                1. @ceruleanspark damnit; it's been so long since I've read those parts. And I've only had the Audio Books for rereads, which are only up to chapter 16 right now DX Do you know which part she talks about it; I would love to double check that

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:43:44 UTC from web
                                                                  1. @tenmihara Not the chapter, but during the Old Olneigh sequence, Rainbow Dash and Rarity talk about the cryogenics. Rarity asks about the towers and Dash mentions it then. KKat has been foreshadowing "A person can be uploaded to a crusader mainframe" for a very long time without actually doing it. I thought Cottage Cheese was gonna be it, but he didn't get uploaded either. Whatever happens, I bet it'll be horrifying. Like they're uploaded but they can't do anything and they're just stuck in undending paralysis forever inside the mainframe or something.

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:49:55 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                                                    1. @ceruleanspark According to the way I read it; the Maneframe copies the synaptic patterns of the pony doing the mind upload. effectively creating a perfect duplication of their mind, though not actually being that pony (only in the most literal sense). So, IF Dash jacked herself into it 200 years ago, whether or not her physical body survived, her mind (or a copy of it) would still be there. Of course this is all going under the assumption that you're right about her uploading her mind into it in the first place. Damn I love Kkat XD

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:56:30 UTC from web
                                                                      1. @tenmihara I'm assuming something went wrong because A) The weather is still a mess and B) It's KKat. When do good thinks happen to her characters?

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:59:12 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                                                        1. @ceruleanspark Very rarely, and sometimes only to make the bad things that happen immediately after that much worse <.<

Monday, 12-Sep-11 08:00:07 UTC from web
                                                            2. @ceruleanspark Hang on a minute... From Chapter 39; Dash (from security recording) says "If I'm still alive, I wanna meet this Littlepip of yours". Considering Kkat's fondness for the Chekov's gun trope, you might be on to something =O

Monday, 12-Sep-11 07:40:56 UTC from web
                                                              1. @tenmihara After Gilda didn't explicitly kill Dash, and once they started going on about modified crusaders and cryogenics, I drew the conclusion that she'd have linked into it. But: If she's in there, why isn't the weather control system working?
