So I decided to draw my OC for once, I'm wondering if anypony has any pointers on what I can improve on (I'm looking at you, professional artist @thelastgherkin). http://i.imgur.com/UcafP.png

@cptscoot Is that a Ponysona or just an OC? I've been drawing many Ponysonas and uploading them onto deviantART.

@pinhooves I guess Ponysona is the correct term? :I

@cptscoot Ponysona is a pony version of yourself.

@cptscoot That looks good, the only pointer I would throw out is maybe look at the neck a little, but apart from that it looks good.

@mrdragon Ah he has got a kinda oversized neck, I didn't even notice when I drew it. Whooops!

@cptscoot The pressure is on to deliver an opinion oh no. Step 1: finish drawing hooves. :P But seriously, you're doing well. You've got the hang of the sort of design elements the show utilises, so now have a go at adjusting the proportions. You can find plenty of scale guides out there online. :)

@thelastgherkin I knew you'd mention hooves!! D: D: D: they're like hands but more flat and deceptive. I've also always had proportion troubles no matter what I draw, I just can't seem to gauge right from wrong on that front.

@cptscoot If you're really having trouble with hooves, grab a mug or a glass from the kitchen cupboard and take a look at how it curves at the bottom. Maybe even draw from it! It's only a little curvy. As for proportions, I only saw you drawing a little bit on Saturday, but are you using construction lines? They're your friends, really!

@thelastgherkin I don't know how to make GOOD construction lines for ponies, so in general I just doodle the sketch in light grey then make a new layer and draw it properly on top, fixing errors on the go. I'm sure I'll tackle hooves I'm just not so confident in them and I often have all of them in different levels of curviness which is no gooood.

@cptscoot Have some tips: the head is a big circle. The legs are as tall as the head. The body is about as long as the head, but only 2/3 tall. Aside from that, the only tip I can give you is: you're doing great, just keep practising!

@thelastgherkin I might follow on those tips actually. That makes it sound really simple.

@thelastgherkin Oooh, that helps a lot, thanks. :3 (Favouriting that post so I don't forget it)

@thelastgherkin Thanks a whole lot! I'll practice constructing ponies when my hand recovers from the last art.

@cptscoot No problem! Now, if only I could draw hands...

@thelastgherkin Ponies drawing hands? What is this nonsense?
