@cabal how much money does it take to fund the site per month?

@the20percent Something like this? Your looking at above $100 a month maybe more
-
@mrdragon get some ads...
-
@mrdragon Fun thing is, lots of us are willing to pay at least a share of the site's upkeep per month. Money isn't really a problem.
-
@getacutiemark Donate button would do better as there are many that will do so. But it's either being taken in to consideration or ignored and has been a few times..
-
@nerthos I've said the same thing, but it keeps getting passed by I tihnk
-
@mrdragon why? this site is awesome! people would pay. I just dont have a checking account/credit card...
-
@mrdragon Exactly.
-
@mrdragon Donations is a great idea, but some people might do the stuff you mentioned but there is one other problem. Some users here, myself included, don't own credit cards and might not be able to donate.
-
@doates It's better then it going down, especially even if we can get a little towards it.
-
@doates Paypal is easy to set up, and does not require a credit card.
-
@the20percent that really exists! i thought it was something the the Good Wife made up?
-
@doates nope... roughly 4$ US per bitcoin... Just post account number, and people can donate :/
-
@mrdragon The fact the people do donate money to the site will prove that the users care for the sites survival, other than facebook and twitter.
-
@doates i concur(repeat doesnt work for me)
-
@the20percent as long it isn't illegal, I am going to use it.
-
@doates There's a different crowd there. RDN's always active and widespread user-base is kinda unique.
-
@greatandpowerfuleaglehooves Very "unique".
-
@greatandpowerfuleaglehooves well yeah, the site is mainly based on the brony fanbase, while facebook and twitter is more broad and general.
-
@doates Legality is in a gray area... because it isn't a currency that's recognized by the world, it doesn't count for money transfers, and thus does not apply to tax laws. However, some people are arguing that it is a currency, even though no bank controls its distribution. However, backstory: Ever since Wikileaks' funding was shut down, it has been accepting bitcoin donations, which can be transformed into any currency (Euro, Pound, Dollar, etc). This is also how anonymous gets funding, since all transfers are purely anonymous (as in instead of a name connected to each account, a serial number such as b72349o23498723lk)
-
@doates Even among the community it's different. I don't fare well in image-boards, and nopony reads comments.
-
@the20percent i mean as long as the justice department doesn't have a law that states that bitcoin is illegal, then i will cautiously use it. i am stuck in the US, so i think i could use it.
-
@doates Ah.
