  1. There are things I like about the show, and things I don't like about the show. Season one has some technical errors (Most of which I can't even see until someone else points it out.) and arguably didn't get to develop characters as much as they did in Season 2. Depth is nice, but I found almost all of the lessened emphasis on personal flaws and ponies being jerks to be part of a nicer, friendlier world I enjoyed escaping into. It was light, kind, and really only ever made glancing references to darker sides of life (Often buried in pretense of song). Season 2 has made character flaws that were only barely hinted at in Season 1 entire foci of multiple episodes. Pinkie's been disconnected before, but never seemed to be intentionally making others miserable or being more ignorant of the feelings of others than a brick wall ( Luna Eclipsed) and Twilight was more a socially awkward snarker than a pony trapped in logic loops (Lesson Zero, It's About Time). I'm not sure I want these ponies.

    1. @retl I believe the term for this type of "personality compression" is "Flanderization". I've noticed it too, and find I'd rather rewatch first season stuff than second season stuff as a result, because it doesn't feel like I'm watching the same group.

      1. @ceruleanspark I'll look more into the idea of flanderization later today. But I do often find myself rewatching more Season 1 for my feelgoods than I do of Season 2. (Though, just for pretty pictures without the storystuffs, Season 2 does some really neat things.)

        1. @retl I find the episodes in S2 I enjoy the most are the ones that recall S1. Sweet and Elite in particular, had more "Old Rarity" in it than new melodrama fainting couch Rarity.

          1. @ceruleanspark Rarity wasn't always melodrama fainting couch?

            1. @redenchilada No. She was not. Rewatch the Rarity focused eps of S1. She is an independant career woman.

                1. @redenchilada You'd better not be talking papayas about Suited for Success because I am logged into the user database right now.

                  1. @ceruleanspark Those second dresses sucked and Rarity shouldn't have let them be made.

                    1. @redenchilada Suited for Success is basically my life, only instead of things stopping after the second iteration of applesty dresses, we get an infinite number more.

                      1. @ceruleanspark Adult life sounds terrible. Mine's more like Fall Weather Friends.

                        1. @redenchilada Well, don't become any sort of developer unless you wanna spend the rest of your life making second-dresses.

                          1. @ceruleanspark Eh, I'll learn to deal then, I guess. Programming is too interestiiiing.

                    2. @redenchilada This happens in real life. The episode is meant to show people that they shouldn't be like that. This show teaches good morals that are applicable to reality.

          2. @ceruleanspark I'm hoping it's sophomore slump, and if there's a third season it picks back up rather than continuing down.
