who here actually backs up their computer? im kinda interested.
-
@techdisk42 I should, but nobody knows about a good Linux backup program.
-
@techdisk42 Everything is replaceable. If it is not, then it was lost for some reason or another.
-
@policeman im only asking cause i was backing up my laptop at the time. :)
-
@techdisk42 You should back it up when you first get the core stuff installed. All else is replaceable.
-
@policeman It's still nice to have copies of projects and save files backed up somewhere, though.
-
@policeman not really... pictures, long documents that were never printed... those cant be replaced in their original form. and you need those in their original form.
-
@redenchilada "Gone, people, all careless and consumed, gone"
-
@techdisk42 You don't need anything.
-
@policeman wut
-
@redenchilada Your files become you.
-
@redenchilada your files become you
-
@policeman wrong. I need ponies.
-
@techdisk42 false
-
@policeman then why the heck am i here?
-
@techdisk42 because all your real life friends are busy doing stuff with eachother and you feel the need to stay connected to people. You realize this is common ground so you come on here to cure your craving for social contact. Oerall, you're just a lonely guy who needs an excuse to relate to other people, thus, ponies. http://ur1.ca/8v7a6
-
@policeman Sorry but i come on here to say stuff and see if i papayas anyone off. Or maybe make a friendship or two (but mostly to mangoes people off)
-
@jimmyrustler You're wuite the tame troll then.
-
@policeman TROLL?? pardon me sir but i prefer the term ARsehole, thankyou very much
-
@jimmyrustler Whatever. Just call someone a f@g or something so you can get banned.
-
@techdisk42 I set up a cron job to automatically back up my files every week.
-
@ponydude I thought about daily, but then I realized I don't do enough often enough to justify it.
-
@ponydude Maybe I'll give it a look. I've just been making a tarball on my external HDD. <.<
-
@scribus Also consider rsync, though the arguments it takes are a little tricky to get right, at least initially. Well worth it for the flexibility power it has, though.
-
@scribus flexibility/power*
-
@spectrumscramble Eh, maybe I'll just stick to things available in the 1970s and try to find a way to turn my CLI amber on black... :p
