  1. Y'all have been getting a little sloppy with the language rule lately. Tighten it up please.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:34:16 UTC from web
    1. @ceruleanspark lets clarify then.... F word = bad How about b**tard? or grapes?

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:35:32 UTC from web
      1. @purplephish20 Any word you wouldn't hear the ponies say, dude.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:35:59 UTC from web
        1. @ceruleanspark That's not the rule. The rule is "PG-13," and there is swearing in Pg-13 films.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:37:33 UTC from web
          1. @kain292 You want to quibble about it? Very well.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:40:29 UTC from web
            1. @ceruleanspark -_- I'm not quibbling. The rule is vague, and PG-13 doesn't exist outside of the USA. Within the USA, it still allows for use of explicit language.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:43:31 UTC from web
              1. @kain292 It no longer matters. I've changed the rule.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:44:10 UTC from web
                1. @ceruleanspark Mind adding something stating the mods have authority to interpret the rules or something to that effect? I've noticed people carp about that in the past.

                  1. @redenchilada It is done.

                    1. @ceruleanspark oh you

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:51:52 UTC from web
                  2. @redenchilada @ceruleanspark What do you think about using ROT13 and an # hashtag to discuss mature topics? Would that be a good idea?

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:53:06 UTC from web
                    1. @pony or maybe if it doesn't contain any explicit language just a # tag? I don't know.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:55:03 UTC from web
              2. @kain292 It does exist outside the USA.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:44:13 UTC from web
                1. @mrdragon Sorry. US, UAE, Pakistan, Venezuela, and the Philippines. Did I miss any?

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:47:31 UTC from web
                  1. @kain292 Yes, the EU just removed the 13 but PG is for those of 13 and under you need a parent.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:49:54 UTC from web
                    1. @mrdragon Noted. I was just trying to make the point that countries have different rating systems. What's considered PG-13 in the USA might just be 12+ in another country, and Canada's 14-A, which allows for swearing, is often used instead of the PG-13 in films up here.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 21:00:01 UTC from web
            2. @ceruleanspark The new wording is much more clear, and applicable to all countries. I approve. :3

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:45:07 UTC from web
        2. @ceruleanspark @purplephish20 @kain292 yeah, but we get some pretty young ponies in here, under the age of 13, not to mention that kind of language isn't really in keeping with the spirit of the show. I'm guilty of bringing up mature topics, though I try not to do so during especially trafficky times

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:40:24 UTC from web
          1. @pony yeh that makes sense, i'll promise best i can to not swear

          2. @pony good thing in dont swear much

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:42:12 UTC from web
            1. @gpupraxis I decided to stop swearing back when I was little. For some it's difficult. In an online enviromnet hopefully it's a bit easier, but I dunno

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:44:02 UTC from web
          3. @pony I've replaced the wording with something significantly less ambiguous.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:47:26 UTC from web
    2. @ceruleanspark The language guidelines are extremely vague.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:36:10 UTC from web
    3. @conventrix that's the gist.. I mean occasional slip-ups are noted as being alright in the Rules.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:55:54 UTC from web
    4. @conventrix My argument has and will always be. Why do you need to use such words in a general conversation? But it is supposed to be no excessive swearing, and no major words. bananas, murdock and so on.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 20:59:37 UTC from web
      1. @mrdragon Wasn't trying to start an argument.

    5. @conventrix that's what I just asked @ceruleanspark and @redenchilada I'd like to know if ROT13 could make it alright

Monday, 09-Apr-12 21:01:47 UTC from web
    6. @conventrix Most people just stick a couple of asterisks in there.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 21:02:08 UTC from web
      1. @ceruleanspark how about conversations with themes not appropriate for foals?

Monday, 09-Apr-12 21:05:57 UTC from web
    7. @conventrix It means all the types, including tagging and spoilered. I was in the infantry, we always swore. But what we did on base and whilst I was at work stayed there, no reason to bring it anywhere else.

    8. @conventrix Whilst I was training the Cadets I was taken up to Lance Corporal, when I joined the actual placement I didn't manage to complete the training. I had a mental relapse and breakdown and after much talking it was agreed continuing was a bad idea. I had just lost my grandfather and other personal issues in life had started to get worse.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 21:07:56 UTC from web
    9. @conventrix Our rank system is totally different to yours. It takes 2-4 years to go from Private to Lcpl, then another 2-4 years to get to Cpl. If you managed to get both in 2 years, then your Sgt is postponed by some time to make sure you don't advance to quickly. If you did it in the 3-4 years it's just another 3-4 years for sgt. For Staff it's a case of which placement will arrive for you after a set time and that you excel. For WO2 (Company Sgt Mjr) you need to wait for the current one to step down or retire. Same goes for WO1 (Regimental Sgt Mjr) Once you hit Staff and above you could go to officer rank. But due to you already dealing with front line work and such running through your veins it's usually to hard for a regular solider to adapt and change.

Monday, 09-Apr-12 21:12:46 UTC from web
    10. @conventrix You need one deployment per rank to get to another, you have to also have training courses done as well as many other things to take part of to be given the promotion. Once you have the requirements you get put forth to take your test, if you don't pass that you'll be put back up to a year for any further promotions.

    11. @conventrix Things will most likely have changed, this was back when Iraq and Afgan were high posts and both at the same time. Cyprus was also in the loop as was the other nato and alliance bases needing people. So the infantry squads we're about all over the world. But you can take any course out there that responds to your job. So long as there is a space for you to take and your commander agrees. The more you have the bigger your paycheck as well.

    12. @conventrix Is the handling portion of the Nuclear Awareness section "Don't. Seriously."

Monday, 09-Apr-12 21:38:04 UTC from web
    13. @conventrix Ok those things aren't what I mean, I'm talking actual applicable things in your line of work. Infantry, advanced rifle, AT, AA, Sniper, Marksmen all that. You want to take those kind of things you have to go through the open university. They deal with Military education.
