    4. @cavatina Act 1 is pretty slow, yeah, but everyone I personally know that made it past it has at least had something positive to say about the comic, even if they didn't end up reading the whole of the rest. Also, it does need to be there, to lay the groundwork for Act 2+ to build on.

      1. @spectrumscramble Sorta like how this show needed the pilot episodes to establish the characters for the rest of the episodes to build off of?

        1. @toksyuryel Yeah but the pilot episodes weren't 11 trillion repetitions of the exact same unfunny programming joke.

          1. @ceruleanspark Yeah, I would say I'm not so much a fan of Homestuck as I'm a fan of Homestuck Act 2+, who begrudgingly acknowledges what Act 1 provided to make getting to that point possible.

            1. @spectrumscramble I've got the book. In the authors notes, EVEN HUSSIE admits that his jokes were bananasing awful.

        2. @toksyuryel Pretty similar, yes. Though in the case of homestuck, it's characters _and_ universe mechanics, since there are some key things whose presence holds true throughout the Homestuck multiverse, that simply don't exist in the real universe.
