@thatonepony "hey guys, let's store crucial structure data unprotected in the games RAM and never check it! What could go wrong!"

@ceruleanspark I saw this earlier today... completely given up trying to understand how this stuff works (let alone how people find it).

@ceruleanspark i am toatally doin that! xD

@ecmc1093 The sequence of stuff they do is designed to set some variable in the game's warp code in such a way that it just happens to correspond to Gannons castle instead of the next room. You could do it in Pokemon R/B too, by taking a certain sequence of steps in Pallet town, you could alter the warp for Gary's house to other locations.

@ceruleanspark It's something of a tradeoff between that and making it faster and/or smaller. Especially given the ridiculously tiny amounts of RAM pretty much every console has, I can understand them resorting to tricks like that to avoid bogging down the game.

@thatonepony A standard GB cart was 2mb. I dunno about GBC.

@toksyuryel Given that you can only do it with certain doors, I suspect it actually IS checked most of the time. There's only one door in all of Pokemon Red/Blue you could do the warp-swap with.
