@dlcentaur I read it, pretty tore up but at the same time couldn't be completely invested because the main character's background was TOO much of a downer to be believable, if that makes sense

@crusader8 #ooc Sort of, but the way I reasoned it out was that he was either in an alternate reality, or he was in a REALLY screwed up future.

@dlcentaur no no I meant just the overall excessive amount of reasons he had to be depressed and anguished. Typically a character should only have one or two traumas that, when mixed with the circumstances of the character or perhaps his or her choices, create the tragic heartstring-pulling mood. But when it's just an unbelievable train wreck to the point when you can almost laugh at its absurdity, THAT's when it's a bit too much. I think what worked best for the story is that although it was fiction he wrote it in the pretense of being nonfiction. That ultimately created a successful immersion for my reading experience.

@crusader8 One of the reason I relate to it so well is that his life looks almost too much like mine. Even though I was raised in a great Christian home, it didn't prevent me from almost literally going insane. I'm not joking. My depression (a few days ago) sunk so low that I was seriously considering suicide and murder. My mind was so messed up and I was confused to the point of tears. Jesus pulled me through it, however (Thank God that he did or I might be dead right now!)

@rarity I've always hated religion. It's full of a bunch of hypocrites. I'm not a hypocrite because I never claimed to be anything even close to perfect. I'm so messed up it's not even funny, but the love of my Jesus has rescued me from quite a lot. xD

@rarity religion or no religion, people underestimate the usefulness of having a solid compass you can fall back on when the lines blur in your life between right, wrong, want and need. Everyone eventually finds one and by no means is religion the only moral compass for there are many, but like any tool it must be used properly :) and in this case, our little pony dlcentaur used the s* out of that compass to great effect.
