  1. @ceruleanspark Just out of curiosity, is there a server setup issue/optimization benefit stopping the site from serving HTTPS over the same domain as HTTP? Or is it just a decision you made?

    1. @redenchilada Can't use Cloudflare with HTTPS without paying. Statusnet is configured to use "HTTPS Sometimes", which means it activates automatically on pages where sensitive data is entered, like registration, logins and password changes.

      1. @ceruleanspark I see. So I'm assuming the secure site is served directly or something?

        1. @redenchilada Indeed. If I could rely on $20 a months worth of donations, I'd pay for cloudflare pro and HTTPS the whole site, but I can't, so I didn't.

          1. @ceruleanspark ... I almost wish I had a spare $140 lying around and say something like "do your magic for like a year, here is some money !" ...*sigh*

          2. @ceruleanspark Just out of curiosity, how much is the total monthly bill for the site? Server and Typekit and all that.

            1. @redenchilada About $60

                      1. @ceruleanspark Are you implying you'd trust me with power enough to give it?

                        1. @redenchilada Without at least trialling you with server access and admin rights first? No.

          3. If you do such a switch (http / #): you've to be careful then with the other SNs' DBs. Their DBs will/might have old info about RDN in their DBs and communication won't work, be troublesome and one fix might be to ask those remote admins to fix their DBs or implement another solution :-( http://federation.skilledtests.com/Statusnet_problems.html#if_above_2_methods_didn.27t_help
