@snowcone I'm not certain, but I would hope so.

@snowcone That's going to depend a lot on whether or not you're white and financially well-off.

@snowcone I... think?

@snowcone If nothing else, it's considered perjury. Right now I'm reading about it in a child abuse situation, but I don't know where else that stretches to.

@snowcone And I really wish that I had been 100% joking when I said that.

@snowcone But for serious, I despise people who make up fake abuse/rape/etc stories. It makes it that much harder for people who have actually gone through it to be taken seriously, and it just makes the situation a joke.

@snowcone Trust me, I know. It's shameful the way it's treated, and it's a super serious problem. I can't stand jokes about it either.

@snowcone If you take it to court, it is.

@snowcone I think it depends. For example, comedian Daniel Tosh made a comment about one of the audience members at one of his shows that "wouldn't it be funny if she got gang raped, like right now?" Completely not okay. So like anything I think it's a very fine line. And I agree. The crime itself is bad enough without dealing with the public/authorities. And they don't deal with it well.
