        @redenchilada X and Y generation is probably the best of the series- but if you don't have a 3DS, Black/White 2 are also incredibly epic.

              @nerthos The WFC servers are offline now. It might work with the fan-run servers depending on how that's set up, though... if that's even a thing I can do on a real console. (Actually, once 3DS homebrew picks up, running mods for DS online might be easier than it once was...)

                @redenchilada Well emulated multiplayer isn't likely to go away soon so it might be easier for you to just recreate your team on Desmume with a savegame editor or something

                  @nerthos If I was gonna play on an emulator I might as well raise a new team. My White team is pretty junk anyway (the three starters unevolved and a meme legendary) and having a new team might be more fun.

                    @redenchilada I remember I have an evolved snivy, a cat thing, a dog thing, and a couple other pokemons. Also a full dog team with that ability that lets you get items from random battles to make money.

                      @nerthos My team was Snivy/Tepig/Oshawott/Victini/two HM slaves I think. I think there was an Emolga in there and I got upset that it couldn't learn Fly despite being Flying-type.

              @soren I really liked them when I first played them, but there's a lot of grinding involved... I always seem to end up underleveled no matter how slowly I go through the games in anything except X/Y.

                @redenchilada X and Y fixed most of the problems the old generations had:
                -Pokemon scaling
                -EV Training
                -Online systems
                -Transporting methods

                X and Y were great works and I really appreciate what they did.

                  @soren I usually just play through once for the story and then occasionally goof around with friends for a bit. I thought X/Y were nice about letting you do that easily without having to grind much.

                          @soren it's a /bit/ easier, but friend safaris that have dittos are few and far between, and Battle Maison is so-so. The only things you can do post-game that you can't do before is find the other mega stones, the battle maison, friend safaris and catch a couple legendary pokémon.
