        @scoot The induction handles only actually require that you be in contact with them. Moving them about doesn't actually /do/ anything. It's just easier for the pilots to actually move the handles than just imagine themselves moving.

        @scoot That's why the Dummy Plug System clamps Shinji's hands to the handles and slides over his head. It's "Lying" to Yui by telling her he's sending the signals. She's able to reject the fake signals later because she's seen how it works.
