@northernnarwhal stupid-looking gross greasy face that i've tried to fix with tons of different products and i'm flabby and gross and my neck is always rashy and i have awful posture and i have the worst fashion sense in the world and i'm just horrible to look at and i have a stupid smile

@yodelerty I never thought you looked flabby, gross, greasy, or anything of the sort. You've always looked good to me, at least as far as my perception goes anyway.

@northernnarwhal That's just the lighting and camera quality of whatever you've seen of me. I try to minimize how gross I look on a camera. It's not possible to fix my gross body and face irl.

@yodelerty Dane, if you look through broken and stained glasses the David would look ugly and lame.

@yodelerty I say that the issue is your perception bias, and with one even a masterpiece looks crappy. Sure I'm not saying you're a world renowned beauty, but you're not hideous either.

@yodelerty I don't think you could look as awful as you describe yourself in real life and then look so nice in pictures. I think you're selling yourself short.

@yodelerty Want to impress yourself with your image? Go to a gym and start bodybuilding or something, and then you'll be measured with objective rules that you can't argue with.

@nerthos dude I want to do that but working out is so boring. I've tried before to do an exercise regimen and I couldn't keep with it because it just wasn't fun. Maybe it'd be better if I had a friend to do it with.

@yodelerty Sign up for a gym, make buddies there who will work out next to you and chat with you/exchange advice and tips and stuff and keep you entertained.

@yodelerty As someone who has dealt with (and to some extent still deals with) issues of self image I can tell you that it's really easy to look at yourself in a mirror and notice all the small, insignificant flaws everywhere and just feel horrible about yourself. It's a lot easier to just tell yourself you're not good looking than to try and convince yourself you are, or at least to some margin. I know what's it's like to be completely unsatisfied with the person you are, and to desperately wish you were someone else. Sometimes you really do need someone else to step in and say "Hey, you're actually pretty good looking" or "you're handsome/attractive". Because other people can see you without that lens of self doubt and anxiety, so when we say we find you good looking we really do mean it.

@northernnarwhal I just don't know, man. It doesn't make sense. Maybe I'm just expecting it to be said to me irl. Or by a girl. Dunno why I'd expect that since it won't happen. Meh. Sorry.

@yodelerty You don't have to actively look for it in those places. You need to just ask around whenever you have a doubt or need help or a tip and someone will answer, and then make comments, and you'll reply back, and even if you don't end up being best friends it'd be like the guys you sit next to in school? More than enough to have some fun talking a but while bored.

@nerthos I'm scared of talking to people so I could never do that anyway. If I could actually do that I would have had people to talk to in school. But the guys I sat next to in school I never talked to. Social anxiety. Yeah.

@yodelerty In a place where there are people specifically there to lend a hand, you have no excuse to ask now and then.

@nerthos You'd think but I'd still be too scared to talk to anyone. I don't even talk to the employees at retail stores when I need help.
