          @rarity these days I might just lurk something like AskReddit cause you can occasionally see some humourous or insightful answers, but other than that I might just lurk around in subreddits for media I like. Reddit isn't the kind of place I want to go to to discuss politics.

            @northernnarwhal I only stick around Reddit now because it has basically one of the only active left-wing communities online. Obviously /leftypol/ exists but like any *chan they're very much against intersectionality and identity politics. Anyone who says "issues like race and sexism only distract from class struggle" is no comrade of mine

              @rarity That's what generally turned me off from that community. I really disagree with the idea that "if it doesn't align with my experience of politics than it's irrelevant to any discussion of politics!" because it's essentially saying "I am vehemently refusing to acknowledge my inherent privilege and systematically disadvantaged minorities that express their opinions frighten me"

                      @rarity It bugs me a lot because at one point I talked like that, then at some point I had some really critical personal intervention where I just looked at myself and thought "I'm a goddamn idiot" and my worldview has grown a lot since then. I happily consider myself a feminist these days.
