I'm not saying it's really fun or anything. It's pretty papayaty, yet it's a valid way of making a funny even if we don't find it as such. Being in written form on the internet it doesn't directly cause any harm, and any harm caused by readers is to be blamed entirely on the idiot who takes it seriously.

@skellythos I mean, regardless of who's to blame, if an idiot reads that and molests a woman or something, you can't brush that off as "haha comedy."

@tiffany You can brush it off as "it's a crime" and send the guy to jail though.

@skellythos A crime that would not have been committed were it not for that "joke" being a thing.

@tiffany @skellythos hmm but censorship should not replace common sense. If a guy is so sick in his head that one such statement can trigger

@onetimepad Exactly what I'm getting at.

@tiffany @skellythos ill behaviour, then it's "already too late" for that guy.

@tiffany And we fall into the "must not say anything controversial because some idiot might take it seriously". In my opinion, the better should not be restrained due to the flaws of the lesser. It should be the other way around. Otherwise we people with common sense lose a lot of privileges due to individuals we have no authority over or relation with. We can't all use plastic knifes because someone might use the metal ones to stab another.

@skellythos I'm all for freedom of speech and whatnot, but we're talking about something which could have easily been prevented, by making the material transparently parodic. Your argument is akin to "guns are okay because knives are okay," when in actuality knives are generally useful while guns are purely for killing.
Sunday, 22-Nov-15 18:33:21 UTC from web-
@tiffany Not going to argue guns with you because we have entirely different views on them.

@tiffany @skellythos I agree that, IF it was meant as a joke it should have been marked so. But I just read the original blog post and now..
-
@tiffany @skellythos I'm not even sure if he is joking. Maybe whether or not it was meant as a joke doesn't even count so much. The message

@tiffany @skellythos is what is important. And yes, it's bad when people spread such crap. But I think, censorship should not be the answer.
-
@onetimepad It's tough being anti-censorship, and yet at the same time anti-people-saying-stupid-mango

@tiffany @skellythos If someone publishes such bullbatcave, we should discuss openly WHY that was bullkiwi. So people who are at first appealed

@tiffany @skellythos by what he published can see what's wrong about it.

@skellythos The point he's making is words have immense power regardless of their intent, especially if you're a public figure. So basically whether or not it is some elaborate "joke" isn't even relevant, what is relevant is that's he's publicly broadcasting toxic social views, the ambiguity of which perpetuates longstanding sexism in the popular cultural ethos.

@northernnarwhal Would you say that I broadcast toxic social views and perpetuate a sexist, racist, etc. agenda?

@tiffany It's pretty much the same as the whole "this game promotes violence because this guy in it kills freely". Such content doesn't command anyone to emulate it. Doing so is entirely the imitator's blame.

@skellythos An openly misogynistic article with views that people legitimately agree with isn't the same as a video game where the violations of laws are entirely apparent.
