          @tiffany I like the book but am not a fan of the film. Not really worth arguing about it either way though, unless you're willing to have a constructive conversation about it.

              @tiffany That would be a pretty unfair generalization, I think. The genre is super saturated, sure, and it's been covered to death (and undeath!) from just about every angle, but I don't think that makes particular resonant stories in the genre less meaningful. I'm not a huge fan of the book for World War Z, but as someone who's read the book and seen the film I can tell you that the two have very different priorities.

                @northernnarwhal I exaggerate but every zombie story I've seen (all, like, two of them) suffers from the same thing. In short, I am being very unfair

                  @tiffany All genres have specific trappings and stylistic leanings they fall into. You could make similar criticisms about sci-fi, crime drama, fantasy, romance, and plenty of other storytelling genres. "Zombies" is an easy target because it's not really a meaningful genre so much as it is a really ubiquitous storytelling vehicle, so it's easy to compare multiple pieces of "zombie" media on a narrative framework analysis and come to the conclusion that they're all the same with no meaningful distinction. This is unfair though, because it divorces many of these works from their specific narrative and thematic contexts, usually the strength of a piece of media isn't just what it's about but how it articulates what it's about. That's when you really start to strongly critique media. I'm not really even much of a fan of zombie media, but I feel it's unfair to dismiss all of it because I'm not into some of it.
