@tiffany It's not nearly as specific but I like to brag about how Scott Pilgrim took place in Toronto and I've actually been to a ton of the places where the film was shot. It was cool reading the original comic and recognizing so many of the settings (or at least their fictional counterparts), it gave me this strangely intimate connection to the story.

@northernnarwhal bits Harry Potter, Pirates of the Carribean, Star Wars and more have been filmed here and I've been to some of these places

@tiffany That's pretty rad. I know the city of Toronto has been used for a fair bit of films because of its contemporary midwestern feeling, so it's often used to emulate many cities in America (for example, Good Will Hunting takes place in Boston but was largely shot in Toronto). Lots of TV shows are shot here too as well, most of Suits was done here.

@northernnarwhal I didn't like Suits

@tiffany I've only seen the first 2 seasons, but I thought they were solid. Nothing exceptional, but I thought there were some solid characters and occasionally clever scenario writing.
-
@northernnarwhal I just found it disinteresting from the get-go so I guess I didn't give it a fair try afterwards

@tiffany It's not amazing, but I watched it episodically with some friends while the early seasons aired so it was fun to talk about it week by week and discuss characters and whatnot.

@northernnarwhal I drove past the house from Nightmare on Elm Street once. I didn't recognize it, but I know I drove by it.
-
@scribus From the original film? That's pretty rad. I know a friend who's gone by the actual Amityville house.
-
@northernnarwhal Dude, that's wild.
-
@scribus There was this really cheesy television show I used to watch as a kid called "Ghost Trackers" where they'd basically send kids into these purportedly haunted buildings in Ontario at night with cameras set up and have them explore for paranormal activity. I was enamored with the idea and I eventually got my dad to fill out an application for me to get on the show because I was kind of a fearless child and that was the sort of thing that really interested me as a kid. I ended up being just a couple of years shy of the minimum age for the show, which kind of bums me out in retrospect, but I ended up visiting lots of the areas from my favourite episodes on my own in the future (albeit during the day for many of them) anyway so it didn't turn out too bad!
-
@northernnarwhal I would have been all over that if I had known it was a thing and had access to it! Hell, who am I kidding, I still would be.
-
@scribus It honestly seems like it would still be a really fun thing to try, but it's no longer a thing as far as I know. Even these days I have a casual interest in the occult and supernatural thanks to lots of my favourite childhood media (I also really liked old Stephen King and Lovecraft books)
