    Anyway, to answer my original question, some kinda Yoshi's Island DS game establishes that the Yoshi's Island Yoshi is a different Yoshi to the like, Mario Kart Yoshi.

      @thelastgherkin Crackpot theory: Yoshis have a hive-mind. Why would all the freshly hatched Yoshis help Mario and Luigi in like Super Mario World? They all know Mario.
