People keep complaining about Trump's twitter when there's real stuff to complain about.Saturday, 18-Feb-17 15:51:30 UTC from web-
@nerthos Half the problem here is a lot of species listed as endangered really aren't.
-
@maiyannah Yeah, but simply removing the law causes more issues than what it solves. Specially as they're trying to get it removed to boost mining and similar activities that have long-lasting environmental consequences.

@nerthos Basically, republicans don't like the law because it's over protective, and because people only seem to understand binary absolutes, that means its gotta go in the bin.
I'd revise it to drop all the "watch" and "maybe" categories and require the species listed to be truly without a doubt endangered. It would basically solve both issues, protecting endangered species while freeing up land occupied by the aforementioned "cute" not-endangered-but-listed-as-such species for exploitation.
As to possible consequences of exploitation, that would be outside of the scope of this law and would be covered by others, such as the Environmental Protection Act and other similar legislation. -
@nerthos glad to see I'm not the only one who sees this.

@awl In general I oppose mineral exploitation because it tends to bee poorly regulated and taxed, and tends to involve loads of off the record payments to the authorities to get away with stuff they shouldn't.

@maiyannah @nerthos People only want to save the cute endangered things too.
Nobody gives a kiwi about saving the endangered grape-exploding parasites.-
@cyberpotato @nerthos And a lot of those "cute" endangered species aren't truly endangered. They just get listed under "maybe" categories because of slacktivism.
Don't get me wrong, there is a real and present need to protect truly endangered species, but part of the conflict here comes over being overprotective and not utilizing natural resources that America can and should be utilizing so they don't have to export them at much greater cost from South America.-
@maiyannah @nerthos and some of the cute ones that really are endangered, are only endangered because they've evolved themselves into a dead end where they're only around because people keep dragging it out for them.

@cyberpotato @nerthos Pandas are basically this.
-
@maiyannah No way, pandas are like land orcas! Except instead of being a highly intelligent apex predator they're too stupid and lazy to even b'thump to save their species.

@scribus @maiyannah @cyberpotato Build robot pandas for zoos, problem solved.

@nerthos I'm kind of fond of the "wear panda fursuits, make fake porn, hope it turns real pandas on."
Saturday, 18-Feb-17 16:18:38 UTC from web-
@scribus Your plan is sound except for the fact pandas are too lazy to go into pornhub

@nerthos Foiled again!
Saturday, 18-Feb-17 16:21:08 UTC from web -
@nerthos @scribus Many zoos have tried to make panda porn to get the pathetic creatures to breed.
It didn't work.-
@cyberpotato @scribus Can you imagine being so lazy and dumb that you won't even move to have sex
Saturday, 18-Feb-17 16:22:28 UTC from web-
@nerthos No. Not even when I am falling over myself drunk. I may fail, but damn me if I don't try!
