I wonder if I should start enforcing the TOS's statement that users must be at least 13
Wednesday, 29-Aug-12 16:31:26 UTC from web-
@redenchilada Age or maturity level?
-
@foxgopher Age. Expressly stated in the stock StatusNet TOS. (Which nobody except me ever seems to read, along with everything else on the bottom of the page.)

@lovetolerateandstocking See, I've always wanted it in the rules, and it's already even in the TOS!

@redenchilada Remember when I was 13, and everyone thought I was a lot older? On the off chance there's a 12 year old like that on here, would they be allowed?

@greydragon412 Same here

@greydragon412 I'd like a rule requiring the majority of posts to be in unencoded English, but I probably shouldn't talk like I'm the guy in charge when I'm really just a lackey enforcing rules.

@redenchilada We do have a few users who don't speak English.

@thelastgherkin I suppose. It's all a matter of "can the mods read it?" more than anything else, which I guess Google Translate makes a moot point.

@redenchilada I see no purpose for such a rule. For whatever it may be worth, I am personally against this.

@toksyuryel I'm more concerned about "unencoded" than "english", since, as I just said, mods need to be able to read it. GT can cover the language barrier, but encoding is something that... I suppose isn't a huge concern, but I'd like it in the rules anyway to cover any nutjobs who refuse to listen to anything that isn't explicitly written in the rules doc.

@redenchilada I'm 12 and what is this
Wednesday, 29-Aug-12 16:48:40 UTC from web -
@redenchilada Well what does "unencoded" even mean? Because I don't think anyone minds ROT13.
Wednesday, 29-Aug-12 16:48:56 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel None of that silly encryption stuff that I've seen once or twice, for instance. I'm probably just nuts, though.
Wednesday, 29-Aug-12 16:51:51 UTC from web-
@redenchilada Probably. I haven't seen it.
Wednesday, 29-Aug-12 16:52:31 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel And this is why I'm not trusted to write the rules, kids!

@greydragon412 There's actually no rule stopping the whole timeline from talking in Korean or something like that. It'd be nice to at least require it to be understandable through Google Translate, if nothing else. And heck, I probably _should_ be sending Cerulean these things, but I'd have to remember when he's on. I really dislike leaving notices to people who aren't on when they probably won't get them.

@redenchilada This is timely because I was thinking about writing in Swedish for a day for practice again.

@jla It's not that I really mind so much as I just wanna know what I'm moderating. In fact, if I put forward such a rule, it's probably be written like that instead of explicitly ruling out anything.
