@ceruleanspark Trixie on an airsoft Desert Eagle replica?
-
@ceruleanspark WHERE did you get THAT?
-
@nerthos He's english, so his is also an airsoft replica.
-
@nerthos His is just a much nicer replica.
-
@ceruleanspark Oh, totally missed the first post. I instintively look for avatars of interesting users, so I often miss things.
-
@ceruleanspark But yeah, it's a really nice replica.
-
@thatonestocking Haha that video gets me eveytime.
-
@thatonestocking What the hell did I just watch? D: Has he never heard of gun safety, or acting lessons, or editing? D:
-
@thatonestocking We have a wide range of talent. Definitely editing. I've seen proof of bronies demonstrating gun safety. Now I just need to find something with good acting.
-
@ceruleanspark @nerthos We're discussing airsoft now? Mine's a 6" Dan Wesson from ASG. It's actually an airgun that fires .177 steel BBs, instead of the plastic ones. Uk laws say I can own a realistic and potentially lethal gun, but not a realistic looking toy. Yay logic!
-
@klayking I have a 5.5 one.
-
@klayking Makes about as much sense as here. A kid got shot when Transformers came out because Megatron's gun mode looked too much like a real gun. Now all toy guns are bright neon colors.
-
@nerthos Ooh, got any pics?
-
@klayking Since 2006 the laws about acquiring replica firearms in the UK are actually incredibly grey. You basically need a UKARA license to successfully import one now, unless you can prove you're either a film maker or a reenactor. The fun and pointless part of all this is that I now legally can't actually get rid of my own airsoft equipment, but I can't legally use it /either/.
-
@anarchycarcino Damn, who was the trigger happy person who shot him?
-
@klayking I don't recall, I think it was some cops who thought the kid was pointing a gun at them.
-
@anarchycarcino Guy got hassled by airport security for having a Masterpiece Megatron. Arrested too, I think.
-
@thelastgherkin Yeah. Those Transformers man, dangerous hobby.
-
@ceruleanspark Yeah, the UK laws are really flawed. They barely make any sense. In my opinion I say that airsoft should be treated the same as airguns, and may be legally owned by anyone over 18 without licence.
-
-
@ceruleanspark Over here, you may only own a replica if you have an ugly plastic plug at the hole head. makes me not wanting a replica gun...
-
@klayking Part of it is that the people who came up with the UKARA licensing concept were airsoft site owners looking to profit from it, hence the requirement that you must play a 3 games every 2 months or lose your license.
-
@hakupony Thanks to blatant profiteering by people involved in the lawmaking process, it costs approximately £550 a year to maintain a legal license to buy airsoft replicas.
-
@nerthos Nice. My friend in France has an underlever air rifle. Makes for a very stable barrel.
-
@ceruleanspark Oh man...
-
@ceruleanspark Yeah, there's a really nice USP Match i'm after, but it's only available as a 6mm airsoft. I can't justify joining UKARA as I don't have the money for all the airsoft gear, let alone the ability to get to a site.
-
@klayking Yeah. The breaking barrel system has a great flaw, the rifle becomes less accurate with each reload.
-
@ceruleanspark I think there are different causes over here - we get nervous really, really fast about anyting resembling a weapon. I really would want to posess a good mace but those things are forbitten as well if they don't break very easily.
-
@nerthos I own a 40 year old break barrel BSA Meteor. Build quality must have been good back in the day because it hardly had any maintenance with the last owner, yet it still performs perfectly.
-
@klayking If it's 40 years old, it probably won't break as long as you take care of it.
-
@nerthos Yeah, I used to teach kids in the Air Cadets how to use them, so I always follow the correct maintenence procedures.
-
@ceruleanspark @klayking keeping up the trend with my childhood BB gun.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/x63j17ppifqjj7o/2012-08-30%2009.12.41.jpg
-
@pony now you can all play analyze the junk on Pony's desk
-
@klayking I mostly use mine for target practice, though I once blowed up a nut from a parrot-like bird's claw.
-
@pony Lever action? Nice.
-
@pony Don't mind if I already was.
-
@nerthos I loved it as a kid.
-
@thelastgherkin xD
-
@nerthos Hope you didn't hurt it! D:
-
@pony Oh cool. Is that a Daisy by any chance?
-
@klayking Nope, clean shot. The bird remained frozen in position, just without the nut.
-
@klayking yep! I ought to buy some more bbs for it
-
@pony As a kid I had a couple of those plastic pellets guns. Then at 18 I bought the 5.5 one.
-
@nerthos nice :D
