      1. @abigpony Well writing about a whole different planet. The main inhabitants are humans and another type of human with a extra chromosome. The two are fighting, futuristic warfare.

        3. @whiterose Ah, so humans who fight with each other for no apparently reason? Well, at least it's a believable story :P

          1. @omni @abigpony well yes, and no. The normal people people are fighting shifters. Shifters namely wolf/humans go back and forth between the two forms and it is over a dispute hundreds of years old, a grudge if you will.

                1. @whiterose Hey, you're the one writing about it.

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:37:12 UTC from web
                  1. @abigpony Yeah true, but my imagination parently comes from mainly high school biology and a little imagination XD

                    2. @whiterose High School biology? You mean common knowledge.

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:40:03 UTC from web
                      1. @abigpony Seeing how often I see people say the most retarded things like "you shouldn't kill animals, but buy them from the slaughter" and "It's fine for vegetarians to eat fish, as those aren't animals", among even dumber things, I think "common knowledge" can be pretty much thrown away as a term worth using.

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:42:03 UTC from web
                        1. @omni Agrees, "I elected to take Biology in High School, it wasn't required to graduate."

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:43:10 UTC from web
                          1. @whiterose But it isn't required to graduate.

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:43:46 UTC from web
                            1. @abigpony I do not agree it was dumb, just an opinion however @omni

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:44:35 UTC from web
                            2. @abigpony I don't need higher-level maths to graduate either, but I'm doing it because I want to know them and be better at IT-related stuff.

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:45:33 UTC from web
                              1. @omni Thus is why it's not required. It more for those forward-thinking enough to know where it will be applied later in life.

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:50:11 UTC from web
                        2. @omni I have never heard or seen either of those things.

                          1. @abigpony I do. And not only on the Internet, in actual real life, and said in a way that made it hard to believe it wasn't meant seriously. There is a reason I hate the "Facebook Generation".

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:44:59 UTC from web
                            1. @omni I always see people talk about the generation like that, but then you gotta realize it's pretty much natural to talk down on future generations much as I talk down on them for a lack of creativity. I, for the most part, see every generation past the now-30-somethings to be unoriginal, unartistic, and for lack of a better statement, lacking in childhood influence. It's difficult to look down on generations when you can't criticize others.

            2. @whiterose Oh, I see.

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:35:25 UTC from web
              1. @omni At one time I almost joined the armed forces, but I drank too much coffee before M.E.P.S (Military Entrance Physical) so I failed for Blood Pressure, it was way too high.

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:37:28 UTC from web
                1. @whiterose Oh, that works? Good to know, I will surely make sure to drink a lot of coffee if I'll ever be called up then. I really do not want to go to the military :(

                  1. @omni I wasn't drafted, I signed up of my own free will

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:39:41 UTC from web
                    1. @whiterose Oh, I see. I guess that sucked? Then again, being honest, losing your life would've surely sucked more than failing that =/

                      1. @omni @abigpony Yeah, now I am already on Blood Pressure medication. I had gotten off a year after that and my BP recently flew through the roof again 200/110 was the highest it has been, but I believe I will get off all meds again :)

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:41:47 UTC from web
                        1. @whiterose I used to have really high BP as a kid, but that went away. May I ask what this all has to do with anything

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:45:10 UTC from web
                          1. @abigpony It is why I chose a Military Dictatorship as the government in my book.

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:45:55 UTC from web
                            1. @whiterose Because you can't write creative characters or because you have a desire to create an unrealistically complex system/

                              1. @abigpony You would be surprised, it is because I like to recreate everything down to the detail to try and keep a reader understand all that is going on to the best of my ability.

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:49:59 UTC from web
                                1. @whiterose recreate what? You were denied, no?

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:51:15 UTC from web
                                  1. @abigpony That is what research and my time goes mainly to, any good writer researches some aspect of what they are writing. I know I can never be perfect though.

Saturday, 06-Oct-12 13:53:44 UTC from web
                                    1. @whiterose this is true. Research is key.

                                2. @whiterose The problem with that is that I find it really easy to create loads and loads of minutiae, but then flounder when I try to express it all to the audience, often leaving out fundamental key details I've taken for granted in working out the small ones.

                                  1. @thelastgherkin Good point :) That is what happens often when writing.

                                    1. @whiterose Another tip from someone who has no idea what he's doing: don't plan too much. It's really easy to go ahead and (in my case) write out 60 outlines for comic book issues, but never write out a single script for one. Plan just slightly more than what you need, and then use it all. :)
