What even IS the SAT? #lolcanada
Saturday, 24-Nov-12 06:45:47 UTC from web-
@minti >Not knowing what the SAT is
-
@minti 9th-grade-level reading comprehension and math, and also a writing assignment. Or something like that.
-
@yodelerty I'm from Canada, our education system is completely different. D:<
-
@minti So am I. But you come from the place where they speak the duck language so idk.
-
@redenchilada Ah, sounds easy as heck. We have nothing like that over here, I don't think.
-
@yodelerty I meant to say Quebec. Our education is stupid. :p (They combined grade 8 and 9's material into grade 8, for example. We only have 11 years of education.)
-
@minti No tests to get into college or anything of the sort?
-
@minti There are schools in the US that only have 10
-
@redenchilada Nope, just have to have a generally high mark from High School.
-
@minti The government should let Quebec separate from Canada so the rest of us don't have to learn that duck language they think is French.
-
@abigpony *shrug* Everywhere else BUT here as far as Canada goes is 12, as far as I know. :p
-
@minti Interesting.
-
@yodelerty Uh, nah. I don't want to have to find a new house suddenly. :p
-
@minti There will always be schools that vary, but that seems to be the average
-
@minti You won't. You'll be part of the sovereign nation of Quebec.
-
@yodelerty Ew. That's the worst possible thing, even if I did like Quebec. They'd remove all English and treat people who speak English as immigrants or something. :L
-
@minti That's why they should separate. Nobody likes those people. And I'm sure your parents would do all the moving for you since I think you live with them.
-
@yodelerty I have more income than them and I don't even have a job. That should put things into perspective. :p
-
@minti Do your parents make negative money or something
-
@minti are things really bad there?
-
@yodelerty Basically. xD
-
@renovatedkitchen We could be worse off.
-
@minti I mean in Quebec, like overall
-
@minti Like does anybody in your family have a job? How do you even live?
-
@renovatedkitchen Oh. The government is crap. They're constantly trying to make French the "official" language while still keeping English there cause they're forced to by law. But yeah, it could be worse. :p
-
@yodelerty Nope. My dad's suppose to collect disability but he owes the government 35 grand so they kind of take it all without even telling him.
-
@minti How do you even have a house?
-
@yodelerty We kind of sort of scammed the land-lord into giving us super low rent. :p
-
@minti It must be imaginary rent given your household income.
-
@yodelerty Nah, we're able to repair computer and stuff to get just enough to buy food and pay the rent. We also abuse public services that offer food for free, lol.
-
@minti eep. o-o That doesn't sound like it could last.
-
@minti Someone should probably get a real job unless nobody in your house speaks that duck language. In that case I wonder why you're even in Quebec in the first place.
-
@minti we also abuse public services that offer food for free, for christ sake most of the time we cant afford a box of cereal..
-
@yodelerty Nobody speaks it, and we don't have enough money to move to Ontario. :p
-
@minti Did you magically teleport to Quebec one day and were offered a house? I don't understand why you're in Quebec unless your parents were both born there (which can't be right because I'm sure they'd know duck by now if they did) or had the money to move there for some unknown reason.
-
@neurario xD We're surprisingly stable. I know people in worse situations, although I'd give an arm and a leg to have income. Stupid French.
-
@yodelerty They were actually born here, my mom knew French and my dad didn't. :p
-
@minti But... your mom doesn't speak it now? Or they're divorced? So confused I am.
-
@yodelerty She's dead.
-
@minti ...I'm sorry.
-
@minti *pffffft* HAHAHAAH
-
@yodelerty *shrug* What's done is done. xD But yeah, without her we basically have no French in the family and are basically forced to be jobless unless one of us somehow gets enough money to afford to finish our education.
-
@minti well we got something in common unfortunately :(
-
@crusader8 Really? Aww.
-
@minti Solution: become a hobo. Travel somewhere the minimum wage is high (Ontario's is $10.25 I think). Get a crappy job like me (cri). Be cool(?).
-
@yodelerty Problem being, I have a house here. If I went anywhere else I'd be homeless. :p Also I'm pretty sure that's minimum wage here too, if not higher. Lemme check.
-
@yodelerty Where I live minimum wage is like $17.45
-
@breadpudding What the hell and where do you live? D: (Also didn't you bo to get?)
-
@crusader8 xD 3 years ago here, I think. Lost her to cancer after she fought it for well over a year. Those were fun years. Yeeep.
-
@minti But you can't get a job there. Also, you can sleep in a cupboard at work.
-
@breadpudding Is that Brazilian money
-
@crusader8 that's a shame man. sorry to hear that.
-
@yodelerty Oh man I now have the funniest image in my mind from that. Thanks a lot. :p
-
@scribus I live in location, and "bo to get"?
-
@breadpudding I actually meant to say "bo to ged," not "bo to get." (Spoonerized "go to bed.")
-
@yodelerty Its American $
-
@minti No prob Bob
-
@scribus Ah, I see, also I got bored of sleeping
-
@breadpudding According to Wikipedia's handy list of American minimum wages, you live nowhere.
-
@yodelerty I could very well be wrong, dont worry, Im stupid like that
-
@breadpudding Probably. I don't think American minimum wages even break $10.
-
@breadpudding heh I know that feel. !caffeine
-
@yodelerty Im gonna look it up
-
@wafers #latereply #fellintoyoutubehole I appreciate the sentiments, but I'm also 26. My creeping age is getting to me, although seeing my father age terrifies me in a manner much more overwhelming than any loss I've endured
-
@crusader8 yeah, i'm 17 now and barely lost anybody at all but I feel that since everyone's getting older the years to come will just be a tidal wave a casualties and that.....that's not good.
-
@minti plus the whole scandal on Montreal
-
@wafers Don't look at it like that. 1. Enjoy the time we get 2. (my current perspective) I've learned harshly that age isn't that important when so many things can simply just... happen. I lost my mom in an accident. My friend's father suffered a fatal stroke out of the blue this year. This is why I'm trying my best not to worry about aging, or death at all in the first place (since other than staying healthy and encouraging healthy habits, one can do nothing about it).
-
@minti #latereply #buriedunderpileofdashes I hope things look up for you now and in the future, bro. (I also wonder if you're like me and your memory has become much more acute after loss. Like I had trouble remembering things about my mom or time spent with her until well after the accident, then suddenly I can remember way too much)
-
@crusader8 Nah, it's basically the same as before; except that there's no new memories.
-
@minti that's a particularly odd way to phrase it.
-
@crusader8 Heh, I phrase it like that cause of my selective memory. I don't always remember everything at any given moment.
-
