    1. @jla When I jot down notes, I use printing, but if I have to handwrite an essay or if I want to send a nice, personal letter, I use cursive.

    2. @jla IMO the real problem is that in the USA, we learn manuscript and cursive hands that don't have anything to do with each other.

    3. @jla If we just learned a chancery italic hand to begin with, there'd be no conflict between the cursive and the manuscript.
