Hey, my system is still booting as it should, and my GNOME3 system status monitor does not display a capacity limit for /tmp/ anymore! This could mean that everything is working as planned, yay! I wonder if this means that I can actually use computers without breaking everything!

@omni feels good pony ^_^ Also, I figured out my !gameloft issue and didn't need to root my phone, but now I know how if I ever want to.

@omni Well, your post went through, that's a positive sign. :)

@scribus Well, assuming everything works I won't have problems with downloads failing because I don't have enough storage space in /tmp/, and it should be emptied daily. We'll see if it all works out as planned <3

@omni I'm still tempted to root because of this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether&hl=en

@pony Ah. Well, most custom ROMs (like CyanogenMod, which is awesome) have a feature like that built-in. If you also want to upgrade to Android 4.1 or 4.2 (ICS/JB), you could consider switching to CyanogenMod :P

@omni I've no real motivation to upgrade at the moment, but yeah I noticed that was a popular feature.

@widget I went back and looked at MATE after a spell of KDE. I'll have to look into Cinnamon as well, assuming that it will install fine next to MATE.

@widget I have tried Cinnamon, but quickly decided it was not for me. GNOME3 may be unstable and somewhat resource-hungry, and their default software a complete tablet-optimised mess, but gnome-shell is one of the most awesome things I have ever used, despite its limited reconfigurability. Thanks for the tip, though!

@widget The worst issues I'm having with it currently is it locking up on me for a minute or two during heavy use. Ever since I switched from nvidia to nouveau, I haven't really had freezes it couldn't recover from anymore. But yes, the stability could definitely be better, and I do understand it's a big issue (I stopped using KDE because it used to segfault once every 3 hours on me, which made it practically unusable).
