@nerthos Are you that thoughtless? What if someone who had such an experience was on this site and saw that? Have you no idea how rape messes someone up internally? It's worse than you can even BEGIN to imagine. Joking about how bad someone would do at being such a disgusting crime is unacceptable, not to mention that talking about how you would do it, @minti, is utterly appalling. So don't talk to me.

@lunialsunlight Ok, let's settle this issue. As I said, it wasn't about rape. It was a joke about the personalities of a couple people. My god, the conversation started on /SBN/. Something weird and/or wrong is to be expected. I'm not saying "hehe, rape" nor seeking to offend you in any way. I'm sorry if it did offend you, but you're seeing malice where there is none.

@lunialsunlight Question- Is it okay to joke about death? To make light of it? For death is something with which we all have to deal, and not one of us has experienced it or imagined it. Death (as it is often perceived) is the ultimate form of decay and loss. It does not only mess up someone's life, but ends it. My point is not to convince you that rape jokes are okay- not at all. My purpose is to make you think. What is acceptable? To what extent can joking be a relief instead of a jeering cruelty?

@nerthos Can I weigh in as a decent acquaintance of yours, and as someone who has almost been raped, that it does bother me to see it being talked of so lightly. I understand that there was no malice intended, and you probably didn't mean to be making light of it like that, but it is still a bit bothersome.

@tenebarius Yeah, that's my take on it, too lol And, generally, I believe that it's better for one's suffering to end, than to keep on living in pain (serious physical trauma victims, cancer paitents, etc.).

@flaredancer For me it depends. Generally I think I'd rather let people go, but I just have this instinct of, "Hold on 'til the last possible minute."

@tenebarius I think my view is possibly colored by the fact that I was suicidal at a very young age, and for quite a long time. I don't really feel that there's anything to fear in dying, and I believe in a cyclical time structure, with rests inbetween lives, so I don't fear losing people either. I'll see them again, they just need to rest now.
