So what, exactly, are the criteria for promoting a post? Because I don't see how "look at this WIP of a figure of my OC" is promote material (even if it's really nice and I like it). That's the exact kind of playing favorites with users that the site used to avoid like the plague.

@mrdragon Look at the top of the sidebar on Public.

@widget Then why not promote the !art group instead of individual drawings? Maybe have a !streams group and promote that? Promoting individual posts is higher-maintenance and tbh appears to the userbase as playing favorites.

@widget I'm not complaining. I'm just saying it'd work better that way.

@widget Why not just schedule a staff meeting and decide there?

@nerthos Now we all know what it's for it shouldn't really be a problem going forward.

@ceruleanspark I can't really understand what you tried to say there.

@nerthos Now that it's been explained, its intended purpose has been made clear. There is no requirement for further discussion beyond perhaps submitting suggestions on which groups should be highlighted, which is submission based, rather than consensus based.

@ceruleanspark Oh, right. I agree.

@widget You're getting defensive. Promoting groups/tags is exactly what this site needs to encourage that method of organization, and thus, attract new users who are looking for a place to share stuff and find stuff as opposed to a simple chat room type community.

@widget I kind of second @redenchilada here. Maybe promote a couple of general groups - art, games, something, rather than local ones - and that'll make RDN a place to chat and more stuff.

@scribus And it doesn't look like "playing favorites" if it's something that (mostly) everybody is in to.
