@pony Hmm, I did not like the fact that there is no apparent Cloud Kicker there, I did not like the prospect of Twilight Sparkle boyhunting. I liked the part where Twilight ate the apple, and loved the part that spike actually is a dog, Cus he wooks so cuddwy and adowable... Now for that guy with the iconic hat

@pony A prior synopsis explains that. A magical artifact is stolen with the theif fleeing through the portal. Celestia sends Twilight through the portal after the theif to recover it, where she meets parallel human versions of her friends from Equestria

@ceruleanspark Ah right. The crystal crown or whatever. Now I remember. Somehow I was still sort of hoping they'd leave canon Equestria out of it by changing the cast somehow, but there was never really any real chance of that happening.

@pony I'm not sure it's possible to puzzle out the "Why" of Equestria Girls. Yes, Monster High probably does represent an unmet challenge to Hasbro's dominance that EQG meets, but the general message of their last meeting was that they were interested in moving into nonstandard markets, with stuff like adding a girls Nerf line or the increasing casualisation of MtG
