@ceruleanspark If you're going to ask me to pick between something I associate with Tennant-era Doctor Who versus Matt Smith Doctor Who, I am ALWAYS going to pick the latter.
Friday, 24-May-13 11:58:28 UTC from web-
@thelastgherkin I've watched some of the Tennant era stuff now. I wasn't repulsed?
-
@ceruleanspark It would be strange for you to be repulsed by quality, so that makes sense.

@ceruleanspark Which ones did you watch?
Friday, 24-May-13 12:12:17 UTC from web-
@thelastgherkin the first...few. Up to "Tooth and Claw"
-
@ceruleanspark Literally the worst

@scoot By virtue of her being neither Billie Piper nor Catherine Tate, Martha Jones was the best.

@thelastgherkin Really?

@ceruleanspark Nah, "Fear Her" is probably the worst. To be fair, you've only watched a few episodes, so the rot has yet to set in, but when it does the character's foibles will be flanderised into embarrassing quirks, his doe-eyedness will turn into childish angst when he can't get what he wants, and Russell T Davies' fondness for the Doctor turns full-on messianic in an almost literal fashion.
Friday, 24-May-13 12:26:32 UTC from web-
@thelastgherkin Why do people hate 'Fear Her'so much. I dont understand. for me that's what who should be. a good, stand alone episode. with very basic fears and monsters.
Friday, 24-May-13 12:28:51 UTC from web-
@vcgriffin Because it's dull and predictable and uses its low budget to realise good ideas badly.
Friday, 24-May-13 12:34:12 UTC from web-
@thelastgherkin you don't all-ways need a high budget for a good story. And all doctor who climaxes are corny to an extent. a certain level of dispensation of disbelief is required.
Friday, 24-May-13 12:39:05 UTC from web-
@vcgriffin "Boom Town" was a low budget episode with a preposterous climax, and that was enjoyable seeing as it set its expectations low by using only established characters and locations and resulted in good humour with a little character study on the side.
Friday, 24-May-13 12:41:59 UTC from web-
@thelastgherkin It dosent have to be all an advanced character study and plot development. sometimes its not monsters but simple childhood fears
Friday, 24-May-13 12:52:22 UTC from web-
@vcgriffin I don't remember ever being scared of pencil scribbles when I was a child.
Friday, 24-May-13 12:53:26 UTC from web-
@thelastgherkin The pencil scribbles was just the manifestation of the fears of her father
Friday, 24-May-13 12:54:34 UTC from web-
@vcgriffin Anything focussing on relationships between a child and its father is instantly going to fail to resonate with me.
