    3. @awlderpy but it's seriously amongst the best quality jank in the FiMiverse, no hyperbole!

    4. @awlderpy you don't have to see it in theatres, but it's worth it just because it actually addresses some of the subtle social stereotypes in the typical high school teen shows (like Twi actually tries to wrap her head around why cliques between common-interest groups exist in our world compared to the much-more integrated pony society)

      1. @lovelylunarprincesspublicprincesstimeline Just your typical overreaction

Sunday, 23-Jun-13 05:08:56 UTC from web
        1. @bronycharge "ZOMG human ponies we're doooooomed!" Though I blame the sheepishly-formed general dissent towards humanized pony fanwork prior to the EQG leaks. When you have EQD generally not accepting any human anything saying it will always be bad and blah blah blah, then you have Hasbro step forward and go "well actually..."

Sunday, 23-Jun-13 05:10:47 UTC from web
    12. @awlderpy like I just dashed, I think some of the centerpieces of the community openly criticiszing/condemning humanized pony fanwork may have contributed to the initial reaction(s)

Sunday, 23-Jun-13 05:11:40 UTC from web
    13. @awlderpy In all fairness they released a statement that roughly translated to "shaddap because people are thinking of quitting the show because of your childish death threats and arrogant pretentious hate mail"

Sunday, 23-Jun-13 05:16:56 UTC from web
    14. @awlderpy For this fandom this year we've had a triple threat. We've had the Las Pegasus scam issues where people got stranded with no money, we had the fan overreaction and unwarranted hatred of Alicorn Princess Twilight and her coronation episode, and the dissent towards the at-the-time unreleased movie was really hurting people's feelings at the studio

Sunday, 23-Jun-13 05:22:21 UTC from web
    15. @awlderpy yeah, EQD wasn't reporting much on what actually happened. It probably would've made them look bad or at least the fandom, though they posted updates on the charities and auctions meant to rescue people from being trapped there. But the problem is, now and again EQD digs itself into a very deep hole by over-advertising and over-endorsing certain fanworks/fanprojects, and then goes silent when those things fall over or bite the fandom in the butt. The celebrity guests at Las Pegasus were all very disappointed by that con for these reasons and most had to pay out of pocket when they were originally promised to be compensated for their time and stay there. The charity auctions came in when all the non-celebrity guests didn't have money to bail themselves out. I kept checking EQD to see if they'd report updates on discovering who was responsible for the mess, but sadly EQD focused on PR instead of news.

    16. @awlderpy in 2011 and 2012, for the most part our fandom was viewed as an unusual deviant from the typical fans you see for other nerdy stuff. The contributors to the show were in awe that our fandom would actively seek out to create or contribute to charities, collaborate together to educate people on bullying and other issues, our unusually talented fanbase, amongst other highly positive qualities. Then we get Las Pegasus, fan reaction to alicorn Twilight, and fan reaction to EQG leaks. No one really knows what to think of us now, and keep in mind we still appear to be equivocal to furries in the eyes of people who don't get ponies. We're very close to reaching a point that is far worse than the death of the fandom.

      1. @lovelylunarprincesspublicprincesstimeline let it also be known that I still can't wrap around my head why furries are considered bad or unequal in the friggen first place.

    17. @awlderpy because it takes too much effort. We don't like to admit it, but we pre-judge things all the time. We're raised from birth to takes people's word for things, because it's how we survive at first. But we don't necessarily grow out of it. So we keep making assumptions. And we keep on assuming through our adulthood. Next thing you know, you're not letting your 15yrold daughter go to the dance because you think she can get pregnant by kissing a boy

    18. @awlderpy Trusting your parents is the one instinct. Pretty much nearly everything else is learned or taught.

Sunday, 23-Jun-13 05:47:04 UTC from web
    19. @awlderpy and if you're not careful or educated enough, their misconceptions become your misconceptions. Most kids grow up believing what their parents believe, which doesn't make sense for everything else in culture. In ancient society, it would make sense to do what your father did which was what his father did and so on. It doesn't make sense to be a religion for example just because your parents believe it. But that's what happens, with a minority of exceptions involving people who eventually choose to believe something different whether out of rebellion, new relationships or education

    20. @awlderpy my brother and I often make it a point to study the multitude of different kinds of atheism and to avoid the pitfalls of adding to the problem that made us atheist in the first place. He became atheist out of rebellion but later reasoned and verified his lack of belief during his college years. I was a weirdo and had a Eureka moment a year ago where everything came into perspective on how the first 25 years of my life made no dole-ing sense

    21. @awlderpy nothing offensive about not believing. I wouldn't be offended if you didn't believe in me. You know nothing of me other than what I've said. Technically nothing truly verifies or validates what I say other than your own evaluation of the facts

Sunday, 23-Jun-13 06:11:19 UTC from web
    22. @awlderpy don't worry, there will be people who will find reason to be offended in lack of belief. This video makes me cry now and again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7xbwAmPXxU&list=FLtniQfwsxyiqKZI98biTo5Q&index=28

    25. @awlderpy the 500k donation mentioned in that video isn't the only instance of a charity turning down a huge donation from an atheist or atheist organization. Why is our money not good?

Sunday, 23-Jun-13 06:28:04 UTC from web
    26. @awlderpy one thing I dislike is the length some atheists go to in an effort to try and confront theists. People rarely become atheist from being cornered by what they perceive to be a miliotant atheist. No one wants an idea forced on them either. And since most atheists had to come to terms with these ideas on their own,and almost every atheist's story is unique, I find it weird they try anyway. I think both sides miss a key point from time to time, that beliefs not only inform our actions but shape our identity. But unlike a hammer that is put away after being used, our beliefs stay with us and cause violent reactions to our psyche when suddenly removed. So why either side tries to argue in an attempt to convince is beyond me.
