@widget @cabal oh, I've just happened to see you sent a test-dent (http://www.rainbowdash.net/notice/2822603, 11 days ago) to @McScx@oracle.skilledtests.com . The test will have failed, but perhaps only because my non-RDN statusnet address is actually @McScx@quitter.se . Or perhaps you wanted to reach erkanyilmaz@oracle.skilledtests.com

@widget You probably meant equestriarp.net
-
@widget I have never understood why statusnet had the feature to communicate with other ones,,. I think I may have disabled it in the very beginning so as not to anger the DreamHost Cloud Control.
-
@widget It would really benefit from having the ability to log into one instance via an account on another, at the least.

@cabal Denting/dashing from RDN to #federation and back are working great at the moment :-)
-
@cabal The day you installed Statusnet to create Rainbowdash was really a good day, even if the software may have confused you :-) It's an amazing place and probably the largest and most active Statusnet instance by far. Unfortunately I'm not a Brony myself, maybe only for lack of time.
-
@mcscx Largest/most active? That's surprising ;)
-
@mcscx Well, that is surprising. I actually fulfilled my dream to create a popular website. Never thought it would be ponies though! And thanks to the good technical people in charge now, I think we have a superior fork.

@coffeecream After identi.ca migrated to pump.io, RDN became the largest running statusnet instance.
-
@nerthos Statusnet instances don't so much "run" as "fail slower"
-
@nerthos Even without Identica, though...
-
@cerooleanspark "crawl" maybe.
-
@coffeecream Yeah, this place growed a lot over the last two years.
-

@nerthos Is there an adjective that adequately captures the image of a fish spasming uselessly as it suffocates on dry land?
-
@cerooleanspark "Magikarping" maybe?
-
@cerooleanspark That's floundering dear.
-
@cerooleanspark If there isn't, a term should be coined. Are we allowed to use "statusneting"?
-
@cabal I was amazed to see that you can watch youtube videos inline on your Statusnet web page, and dash/dent about it while it's running :)
-
@coffeecream when I look on RDN's public timeline I see new local dents coming usually every minute, sometimes every few seconds. That's fast, and they're all from local users... There are also _hundreds_ of groups -- way awesome. RDN has most certainly more groups than the rest of the statusnet #federation together

@mcscx @coffeecream I'm guessing then that SBN, despite being relatively much less active, is probably quite average if not large for a statusnet instance. Congrats to @minti!

@pony what is SBN, please?
-
@mcscx Basically a tiny version of this place with almost no rules or moderation. Pretty much every user on it is also a user on here. It's not a good place or something that you need concern yourself with, really.

@mcscx @scoot I believe it /used/ to also be used as a development site at some point, from what I've heard? I haven't been around that long, so no doubt I am wrong :)

@coffeecream Red used it to test the current theme out, but concerned about the negative effects of having a limited number of users being split between two timelines, decided he'd bring his development in house and stop using it altogether. After that, it metamorphosed into a spinoff of an idea I originally had about an "Adults Only" derivative of RDN for higherbrow unregulated conversation than this place. I chose to abandon the concept when I realised all it was going to achieve was the death of both sites.
-
@scoot just found it via google... cool, I've found a new Statusnet instance :) ... looks interesting
-
@coffeecream @scoot for lack of time now I must see later what SBN is like. Btw I just had the idea/found out you can find littleknown/interesting/special Statusnet instances by googling for the term 'it runs the statusnet microblogging software'
-
@mcscx Not my doing, that credit belongs to later owners.
