(I know there are going to be some people who are going to hate me for this but...) I'm seriously considering switching to all Apple devices. I'm just getting really tired of having different branded things that at times aren't even compatible with each other. My Samsung Galaxy S3 doesn't like playing nice with my Windows Surface tablet at times and my Windows tablet absolutely hates my Linux desktop running a Windows emulator. I personally would rather trade in all of this stuff for a nice Macbook Pro, a nice gaming Mac Desktop and an iPhone. Why? Because Apple products all collaborate with one another in a unified ecosystem. What about playing awesome computer games? No problem. Apple's OSX can run a virtual console that emulates Windows 7. :3

@huggablysoft You can also use Boot Camp to dual boot OS X and Windows 7.
-
@huggablysoft Lel apple n00b
-
@vt3c Sure. It's an i7 Quadcore with 4GB's of RAM, a nVidia Gforce 550Ti GPU , a 1 TB hard drive, 24 inch monitor, with a dual boot Windows 8 and Linux Ubuntu 13.04. I can sell it to you once I have it ready to be replaced with an Apple desktop.
-
@yodelerty That too.
-
@vt3c I can probably sell it to you for $500 since it cost me a little over that to build the machine
-
@vt3c I'm not sure
-
@vt3c Actually, its not, I don't think
-
@vt3c This is what's in it I think. I remember paying almost $350 for the processor alone. http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i7-2600K-Quad-Core-Processor-Cache/dp/B004FA8NOQ?tag=top10new-20
-
@vt3c Give me a moment to find the exact specifications
-
@vt3c Oh wow...actually, its not an i7, but its still a quad core. It's not a sandy bridge but its still quite powerful (I can play Skyrim at 1920 x 1080 full HD resolution at a decent 40 to 50 frames a second on high settings). According to Linux, my processor is a i5-2320, 3.0 Ghtz CPU

@huggablysoft You don't seem to be getting nearly as much hate as I did. WHAT GIVES, GUYS?
-
@zeldatra Wait what? RDN is full of Apple haters?
-
@zeldatra @huggablysoft You get hate over your own personal preference of computer? :\
-
@zeldatra Just picked a good moment
-
@zeldatra Poop gives, that's what.
-
@nerthos What they said.
-
@thekingopower Hmm?
-
@coffeecream @huggablysoft My decision to buy an iMac, when I was initially considering it a few months back, was met with... "mixed" reaction. (Mostly comments about glue and Foxconn.)
-
@zeldatra Apple products are held together by the remains of horses
-
@nerthos I forgot to double reply....stupid me.
-
@coffeecream Well considering the fact that Apple computers are basically solid state versions of high end Windows and gaming desktops... I really don't see a difference in terms of the computer itself. So what if its running a different OS? What OS you use is your own personal preference. The majority of people use Windows because its the most common but some people who are like me, like using a more aesthetically pleasing OS like Linux or Apple OSX.
-
@huggablysoft "basically solid state versions of high end Windows and gaming desktops" Hyuk. Hyuk.
RDN's Lucifer likes this. -
@zeldatra Blah. Nerds. A computer is a computer. Choose one. I'm choosing Apple because of its virtual ecosystem that integrates with all of their devices.
-
@nerthos Well actually iPhones are held with tiny screws...
-
@zeldatra I'd hate to think that people honestly believe that Apple users are okay with the kind of labor that goes on in places like Foxconn... because that's probably heading into the exaggerated stereotype that other fanboys have of competitors. :|
-
@nerthos Powered by friendship?
-
@zeldatra Lel.
-
@coffeecream More like murder
-
@zeldatra Made of horses
-
@redenchilada Hardware wise, Apple, I have to admit that Apple does have the advantage here. I haven't seen a Windows based computer than can go toe to toe with this monstrosity: http://www.apple.com/mac-pro/
-
@huggablysoft The only problem with that is that it's not out yet. The current Mac Pro runs some pretty outdated graphics. I'm really curious of the final specs of the new one though.
-
@vt3c Yeah..unfortunately
-
@huggablysoft The specs are pretty cool but /it's a tube/
-
@huggablysoft The current Mac Pro is pretty outdated. The new one looks interesting though.
-
@nerthos Apple isn't going for pretty looks this time around. They're going for raw power.
-
@zeldatra It's pretty interesting. I really want to see how well it really performs with its inter-cooled 12 core CPU design
-
@huggablysoft But it's a tube
-
@huggablysoft Interesting. Now how many thousands are they gonna charge for it?
-
@huggablysoft I think with the Pro, looks were never a thing. All of the ones prior to this one were essentially horizontal grills.
-
@nerthos I would use a tube-shaped computer
-
@redenchilada Same as they always have, 2.5K
-
@redenchilada I find it really impractical
-
@vt3c You think too hard.
-
@vt3c Wow...
-
@vt3c "What people say you have." ...
-
@vt3c The one reason why Apple computers are more expensive than other high end PC's that share the same hardware specs is mainly because of how Apple PC's are built. Most of them are solid state and made specifically to utilize Apple's OS maximum efficiency (Much like Microsoft's Surface Tablet's hardware is designed to utilize Windows 8, making the Surface considerably more expensive than other mobile tablets)
-
@vt3c It's how businesses work. They work with each other only to back stab each other to get more money then turn around and work with each other again.
