Does anyone understand houses? Why are higher house prices celebrated, when every other increase in the cost of living is criticised?

@rotation high house prices mean that people have enough money to get loans on those houses, which generally means an increase in income.
-
@rotation The people who write the "High house prices are good" narratives are all people who've got multiple homes in buy-to-let schemes, and are thus, making a goddamn fortune from it.
-
@rarity Hmm, that might work, but people here have seen house prices treble in the past 10 years while their incomes have remained mostly static. Yet this is seen as a good thing.
-
@rotation My suggestion is probably terribly basic and possibly wrong, I have no expertise in the housing market
-
@ceruleanspark Sadly, this seems to be the case. Don't understand why more people don't question these things.
-
@rarity let me tell you this: the housing market is utterly terrifying for me.
-
@rotation I am sorry, then..
-
@rarity Why would you be sorry? It's not your fault I live in such a backward country.
-
@rotation I should have said that I empathize with you, my bad..
