    1. @redenchilada I would say overclock the fan, but im sure that has a possibility of breaking it

      1. @therainbowdashx the fan in this laptop is a worthless piece of kiwi though and it doesn't even cool it off

        1. @redenchilada Ohhhh, laptop, the fans are always dole in those

        2. @redenchilada I had this issue with one of my older laptops. It turns out that even though the fan was running, the channel it was trying to draw air through was basically completely blocked with crap it'd picked up.

          1. @ceruleanspark That's honestly entirely possible, considering how absolutely mangled and trashed the innards of this thing are I wouldn't even be surprised if the fan was blocked.

            1. @redenchilada Can you open up the case at all?

Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 06:15:08 UTC from web
              1. @ceruleanspark Theoretically, I could. Realistically, I'm always too afraid I'd break something if I did.

                1. @redenchilada yeah I've messed up my laptop cases by trying to open them.. not terribly or beyond use, but it still bugged me. And finind instructions isn't always easy

                2. @redenchilada You could try cleaning it "PS3 style" and just jam the nozzle of one of those compressed air canisters into the vents and spray for a while.

                  1. @ceruleanspark I'mma try this

                    1. @pony Make sure to wedge the fan in place before you do, as the compressed air can make it rotate faster than it was designed for. It'll probably be fine either way, but better safe than sorry.

                      1. @ceruleanspark oh cool. Will do

                  2. @ceruleanspark That can potentially damage coolers though by forcing dust inside the bushing

              2. frackin.. laptop cases are hard to open..

    2. @redenchilada let it out. I wonder whether that thermal paste Best Buy folks have tried to sell me would be worth getting for my laptops. Maybe @vt3c knows.

    3. @vt3c Yes. I think. They don't do anything, though.

      1. @redenchilada You can get a secons fan

        1. @therainbowdashx You put your laptop ontop of it

Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 06:11:25 UTC from web
    4. @vt3c "Maybe" tells me I should research it. I suppose it couldn't hurt to look into it. The employee at the store couldn't guarantee anything which made me think it wasn't worth getting.

    5. @vt3c I do that fairly often but that doesn't solve the issue that the laptop doesn't cool. That just makes me stop what I'm doing for around half an hour
