      1. @purplephish20 Try the magnetometer. It's fascinating.

    2. @ceruleanspark Oh my god my phone can sense almost anything

      1. @scoot Is yours one of the phones with a barometer in it? The Nexus has the magnetometer, a bunch of acceleration sensors, a gyroscope and something that measures gravity.

            1. @ceruleanspark Aha, I wasn't certain if that was what you meant. Yeah I dunno WHY it has that

              1. @scoot Because sensors are cool

              2. @scoot What I want to know is why it'd need a gravity sensor. If it's solely for an easter egg in which your phone joyously declares itself to be in space if you go there then I approve wholeheartedly

                1. @ceruleanspark Yeah that also seemed unneccessary but if it's so it can tell when it's in Space that is fantastic

                      1. @redenchilada I like the nerdiness implicit in "Death_Star_I"

                2. @ceruleanspark How many games in the Play Store give achievements for playing them while in space? :o

          2. @scoot Put it in magnetic field mode and wave it over your running hard disk.

            1. @ceruleanspark Oh wow all the numbers just shot up

Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 21:52:19 UTC from web
              1. @scoot The magnetometer is actually what the device uses as its internal compass, rather than using the comparatively complex GPS module just to find out what direction you're facing.
