      1. @coffeecream See this is the issue with "Sky is falling" style campaigns. When every development is a massive world shattering crisis, people just stop caring. The human brain just can't support indefinitely sustained baseless fear.

        1. @ceruleanspark Yeah pretty much. You know what would surprise me? If there WASN'T something 'massive' going on for just a moment. Like I care about net neutrality and global warming and everything but Jesus Christ I just want some time to enjoy life without governments and lobbyists and corporations trying to do /something/ to curb such and such technology or such and such right.

          1. @coffeecream I think part of this sense of apathy (I think it's called compassion fatigue) stems from the fact that, for the average person, there's no actionable outcome to the issue. Nothing /you/ can do to prevent or escape it.
