    1. @citrusrain PMV's or episodes?

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:08:51 UTC from web
      1. @eaglehooves episodes

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:10:29 UTC from MuSTArDroid
        1. @citrusrain I've already got them all downloaded, but still, that doesn't bode well. I'll have to take a look.

    2. @citrusrain But I thought Hasbro saw them as free advertising o.O

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:15:30 UTC from MuSTArDroid
      1. @leonkfox I take it as a sign hasbro is planning a dvd release of the show.

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:18:05 UTC from MuSTArDroid
        1. @nutterguy I have my doubts :(

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:55:44 UTC from MuSTArDroid
    3. @scribus Hasbro actually said that? I have my doubts, to be honest.

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:18:02 UTC from MuSTArDroid
    4. @scribus I think it's trolls again. Either that, or Hasbro has the worst lawyers ever. Most of the season you can still get to from the quick links off EqD. I think if it were Hasbro, they'd do better.

      1. @eaglehooves The fact that the episodes have been up this long is surprising. If you can watch the episodes in HD on YouTube, why would you be arsed to watch The Hub, or inquire to your cable company as to how you can get The Hub? You can't keep your product online in a public venue and let the revenues go someplace else. And the free advertising Hasbro was talking about was the fandom in general. All the PMVs, sites like EQD, and 'MyLittleBrony.com', all the fanart and fics, that's the free advertising they were referring to. There's no way a company like Hasbro could continue to endorse their entire product being on YouTube, where it takes money out of their pockets, and puts it in the pockets of someone else. I'm sure they let it slide for a while, but I'm really surprised it lasted as long as it did.

        1. @engelhardt I have a feeling they get far more revenue from toys and the like than from the show itself. And people dont get hooked until they watch the show. People wouldnt order the hub until they were hooked, because they wouldnt care.

          1. @nutterguy what I mean there is that leaving the shows on youtube prevents a sort of catch 22 and actually works in hasbro's favor.

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:32:35 UTC from MuSTArDroid
            1. @nutterguy How much money does Hasbro make off of ads that run during the show anyways? I don't get cable, and I'm not the one who makes the buying decision on that, so the internet's my only choice. Do those ads really outweigh the embarrassing amount of ponies I've bought?

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:38:11 UTC from web
          2. @nutterguy Probably, but the show's still a point of revenue. With season two inbound, a DVD/blu-ray release imminent, and the fanbase being the size that it is, it's probably better for them to start making FiM exclusive to The Hub, rather than use the internet as a big ol' test audience. It's already been proven that there's a market for the show, and once that online markets growth slows down, so does the benefit of letting people watch episodes on YouTube with no profits to Hasbro. Once you start reaching that peak fanbase, you gotta keep your best interests in mind, and for Hasbro, that's keeping episodes on The Hub, and not on something like YouTube. The torrents will always be around, and while torrent users and YouTube users do have a lot of crossover, there's also a lot of YouTube users who can't be arsed to use torrents.

            1. @engelhardt >can't be arsed to use torrents *raises hand*

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:47:18 UTC from web
    5. @scribus From what I saw, it seems to be the pilot that's affected the worst. I don't see why Hasbro would crack down on one episode.

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:23:58 UTC from web
    6. @scribus but if they had the whole season (not just two episodes that no one cares about) WITH SPECIAL FEATURES...! I WOULD BUY THAT SO FAST

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:25:28 UTC from web
    7. @scribus brony is a unisex term. you can also use pega-sis, or pegasister. but yeah, that's what OH GOD THERE'S A CODE RED AT THE HOSPITAL AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS THERE ARE ALL THESE FLASHING LIGHTS AND THIS VOICE I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON!!!! But yeah that's what I plan to do for my sister

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:34:25 UTC from web
    8. @scribus I love the people that make FiM, but I really hate Hasbro at times. I would so buy that two episode DVD if I could.

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:35:58 UTC from MuSTArDroid
      1. @leonkfox I understand completely. you hate the whole corporate monster thing, but you want to support them so they will continue the show

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:37:10 UTC from web
        1. @nightwillow Exactly.

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:50:10 UTC from MuSTArDroid
      2. @leonkfox I bought it! There's not a lot to it. Just two episodes, that's it. Not even any extras! I wasn't expecting there to be anything extra, but I was hoping. Only bought it to report on it for MyLittlePonyNews.com, wanted to make sure what was on it before I made a post.

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:39:08 UTC from web
        1. @engelhardt I just want to do everything I can to support the show, that doesn't involve buying the god awful overpriced toys.

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:45:07 UTC from MuSTArDroid
          1. @leonkfox Overpriced? I dunno man, I've always found the prices to be really low compared to the rest of the toys on the market. Plastic is petroleum based, and I dunno if you've seen what the cost of petroleum is doing lately, but the price is going up, and it's not going to go down, so the fact that the small ones are only $5 is pretty darned cheap when you consider something like a Transformer that's about the same size is between $8 and $12.

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:53:23 UTC from web
            1. @engelhardt In the UK the toys are a lot more expensive.

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:55:08 UTC from MuSTArDroid
            2. @engelhardt Ponies over here are £6.99. That's just over $11.50.

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:55:29 UTC from web
              1. @thelastgherkin That's crazy! I paid less than that for the Canterlot set that had both Celestia and Luna. Toys 'R' Us also had a buy-one-get-one-free sale back in July that applied to MLP, so my collection's been pretty cheap.

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 20:00:58 UTC from web
              2. @thelastgherkin Damn. That's a bummer. How does the price compare to other toys?

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 20:01:09 UTC from web
                1. @engelhardt ~£7 to ~£9 is the price of a bog standard no-special-features action figure. More special things like Deluxe Transformers hover around £12 (about $19). Playsets and things go up to £30 and higher, so that's $49. So basically, I've been toy collecting for years at preposterously inflated prices.

    9. @scribus Isn't a code red in a hospital a fire?

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:39:29 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
      1. @colfax well they were saying "code red, one-ten, floor 10" or something like that. the woman at the waiting room desk didn't mind it at all.

      1. @thelastgherkin WHO IS WHAT

Thursday, 18-Aug-11 19:44:22 UTC from web
    11. @scribus There's no way a DVD or Blu-Ray release doesn't happen, there's a market for that in a big bad way. The marketing people at Hasbro are smart, you don't get a job in a marketing department at a place like Hasbro by being bad at what you do, you get it 'cause you're awesome at what you do. They know that if they release a DVD or Blu-Ray set of Se1, it will sell. They're a business, their goal is to make money. A DVD/Blu-Ray release of Se1 will make money. It'll happen.

    17. @scribus The KISS army... now that brings back some memories, but yeah, I gave up on medicos when I outlived the third one by doing everything they kept telling me not to, I visit their graves once in a while to light up a cigar and grin like a maniac.
