Whyyyyyyyyy does Google Maps hate me?

@scribus It keeps hanging, or just failing to load and displaying dumb error messages, when I try to get directions.

@starshine Oh, so it's not like ridiculous directions, unnecessary U-turns, or putting the destination on the wrong side of the road.

@scribus I remember when Mom used Mapquest for directions to a nursing agency once, and we drove in circles for half an hour because the directions took us in a complete circle and didn't take us where the destination was actually visible.

@redenchilada Heinous. I've had my share of problems with Mapquest and Google, but most of the time I've done well enough with either. But, man oh man, those bad times really stand out.

Oh good! Now it's managed to seize up the whole computer. I'm going to take this as a sign that I should just go to bed.

@scribus You wouldn't believe how bad any kind of automated directions are here. We can never rely on OnStar to get us where we're going.

@scribus no but my blasted Garmin did ALL of those at the last meetup, also constantly trying to route me onto a closed road

@redenchilada Reminds me of something I read in "Reader's Digest" once. But it's a seriously thin strand of logic, now that I think about it...

@scribus at least it kept the signal? My phone is rather notorious for spontaneously losing the GPS at crucial moments like right as you're coming toward a confusing section of Rodney with one way streets and intersections at odd angles.

@starshine Keeping signal is a plus, I guess. :p My phone will get directions, but when I go to switch to active navigation it has to completely re-discover the GPS signal, re-map directions, and usually by then I've missed the first turn so it needs to re-route. #firstworldproblems
