-
@abigpony ?
-
@abigpony All anime? Or just anime fans?
-
@abigpony To be honest, besides some of the Studio Ghibli films I've seen (and even then I've seen ones I didn't like ,i.e the incredibly over rated Spirited Away) so do I, personally.
-
@abigpony I haven't seen all of the Ghibli films though, need to get around to that at some point.
-
@abigpony The company that is usually regarded as "The Disney of Japan" would say the founder, but I can not spell his name to save my life. They were the film studio who made "Kiki's Delivery Service" (which I have not seen as of yet) which you mentioned earlier.
-
@abigpony It's such a wide and varied medium I don't think that I could say I hate all of it. I dislike all the MOE KAWAII UGUU crap that's being mass produced at the moment, but every now and then something comes along that I enjoy.
-
@abigpony I take it you've tried all the "Classics" like Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Beebop, Trigun, FLCL and Evangelion?
-
@abigpony I'm not here to convert/judge. Just wanted to be sure you weren't basing your opinion on the crappiest stuff in the medium.
-
@abigpony I've seen (and loved) My Neighbour Totoro, Ponyo, Arreiti: The Borrowers, Only Yesterday, but I've also seen (and thought it was okay) Grave of the Fireflies, and I've seen Spirited Away, which is over rated trite that doesn't make a lick of sense from any angle or perspective. It was totally pretentious as well.
-
@leonkfox If you didn't like Spirited Away, don't try Howls Moving Castle. Now THAT's a movie that everyone loves that makes no sense.
-
@scribus Thanks. I understand some people like different things, but the appeal of "Spirited Away" is totally lost on me.
-
@ceruleanspark Oh wait, I forgt Howl's Moving Castle! I saw it and was rather fond of it actually.
-
@abigpony Shame, I thought Only Yesterday was an excellent film about hitting puberty and growing up (handled in a mature manner, even when it comes to...well, certain aspects of growing up as a woman) and I'm not sure why I loved My Neighbour Totoro. It kind of has the same affect MLP: FiM has on me, it just cheers me up and sends me into a sweet little joy whenever I watch it, same goes for Ponyo.
-
@abigpony I just loved Ponyo because it was beautifully animated, well voice acted (dub) and in spite of it not being a romance it told a much more well paced love story than Disney's take on "The Little Mermaid" and was a much more heart warming film as a result.
-
@scribus Can't say I've ever heard of him ^^;
-
@scribus So it was all written on the spot? That sounds like it'll go well.
