Komodo doesn’t just offer the best diving in Indonesia, one of the biggest tourist attractions in this region is obviously the Komodo dragons. These beasts can grow up to 3 metres and are one of the oldest animals to walk the planet. It’s probably as close to a dinosaur you can come to. If you want you check them out, let us know at www.mikumbadiving.com These creatures mainly live on Komodo island and also Rinca Island can be huge, but surprisingly they only have to eat once a month. The Komodo dragon doesn’t use the classic ‘hunt, fight & kill’ technique, they rely on something much more efficient. Once they find their prey, they sneak up on it and take a bite. Then the wait starts… they’re waiting for the bacteria in their saliva to slowly kill the prey. This can take up to 3 weeks! Take the opportunity to see the dragons in the wild on Komodo Island or Rinca Island. We always visit these islands to see the dragons on our Komodo budget liveaboard.
