@northernnarwhal Antonio Fantaliglio in his review said what I thought was really true about it, in that you can't say "it wouldn't be as good if he hadn't died", because the whole point of the album is that he KNEW he was dying. If he wasn't dying, Blackstar wouldn't be what it is. Bowie turned his actual death into an art piece and that's papayaing amazing and such a Bowie thing to do. I absolutely agree that it's the most I've enjoyed a Bowie album in a long time. Probably gonna see it on some "best of 2016" lists for sure

@northernnarwhal I try to avoid it but my tumblr feed is nonstop "I'm glad David Bowie is dead because he had sex with a teenager in the 70's". Like goddamn, I didn't even know that happened until AFTER he died and I was so worked up between him dying and now learning that he did something horrible that I just went and took a nap so I didn't have to process it
