@maiyannah Diversity is good but only when it's not too diverse
-
We're the true soul of the federation: a loosely affiliated crowd of people with diametrally opposing points of view and conflicting opinions, each of us with ideas that at least a few of the rest find awful, yet held together by a fondness for free conversation. It's funny that some of the bigger nodes try to hide us away for being what the fediverse should be.
-
@rw @flown @hfaust @archaeme I remember years ago when @mcscx was a cool tech guy that went around the fediverse taking note of the different nodes and documenting them for the sake of having a proper chart for potential new users, making it more diverse so everyone could find the most fitting node for them, as opposed to being smart gargron wanting to cull the timeline from "wrongthinkers"
-
@moonman What about the japanese pedos from a month ago
-
Yes son, the stork brings memes.
-
@sim Normalizing it is the easy way out for foul, disloyal degenerates that don't want to accept how terrible they are as people. It's easy to deal with it if you say "it's human nature, everyone eventually does it", not so much if you have to accept that by doing it, you're nothing else than a traitor of the worst kind, who broke the most sacred covenant two people can create.
-
@maiyannah @why @archaeme @roka @dokidoki Haha, yeah. Say what you want about identi.ca, it had a few issues like the community being really hard to join if you weren't in the loop regarding free software or one of the groups they had, but until the pump.io disaster it was widely regarded as successful and an example of properly applied effort into developing new features as the community needed them.
-
@zennx Is that your fantroll
-
I could go into much more detail back when it happened but it has been years.

@archaeme @takecherryakenji @why @dokidoki @roka It was done as a publicity stunt. It made sense from a marketing point of view - to launch the new software with a big ceremony, on a platform that already had an established userbase so thousands would get to try it and conversation would be abundant. However the mistake there was to suddenly (regardless of whether it was ready or not) move the floor beneath the feet of a huge network mostly composed of tech-oriented people, who tend to be picky with their software and like the stuff they're already using. Of course the result was that identi.ca was maimed, many people left and it never recovered.

@why @maiyannah Weird, I'm in Buenos Aires and I get the same as why http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/857078
-
@why Yeah, I'm not asking for it to be changed or anything. It's @rw's site so ultimately it's up to him, and it'd make sense to focus on what the average reader likes.
-
@maiyannah Honestly the thing that rustles my jimmies is the importantly-placed "react" thing lol
-
Oh so that's how I get back to the writing interface.
