@abigpony The more fundamental reason is that when people like something a lot, they are naturally inclined to want to share it with others. With something like this where people are predisposed to think ill of it, this naturally leads into having to defend it when you try to share it. And then all this constant need for defending one's interest creates the very image you see and the ensuing feedback loop it generates as I explained in the previous post.
