@redenchilada the point of dog and pony episode wasnt about how to solve being kidnapped, and I think the humor was enough to communicate this, but the lesson in the episode was you shouldn't assume how someone will respond in a given situation based on their lifestyle. They assumed Rarity would be a helpless damsel in distress due to her ladylike obsessions. So as they try to rescue her they're building this idea in their heads of how much despair they assume she's in. This presumption exaggerates to the point which they don't know how to respond once they actually see her again. Humor best develops this because the humor helps point you towards the actual lesson and helps a level-headed person properly identify interaction in the context.
