@communistprime Yikes! 40 below is no fun at all, especially when you're having to sleep outside in it! Apparently, you did it right, though, or you wouldn't be here talking about it. ;) When I was with my folks last week, we actually got looking at old pictures, and talking about when there were stretches of cold like that. The furthest north I remember us ever going is Denali National Park, though. Most of the time, we were around Anchorage. I hope that you aren't getting stationed too far north, there. As for the auroras, my memories of them back then are dim, sadly. I was only four or five at the time. My recollections of the ones when I was in northern Wisconsin are much more clear, even if they weren't nearly so frequent. Very, very pretty. :)
